I'm actually starting this book today, can't wait to read it, since most people have rated it so highly.

Ugh that's so true.
I don't even know why that whole genetics plot was introduced. It was trash

omg i suppressed this series from my memory; i loved it when i was nine but now... i suppose i'd just rant about it if i reread it lol(ps, screw allegiant and its "movie")
It did have a movie, but the events only spanned over half the book I think. I believe it was supposed to have a second part, but have no idea what happened to it...
@sofiathere was definitely a movie. but it was worse than the PJ movies in terms of accuracy (i know, it's bad). i wanted to scream while i was in the theatre. don't watch unless you plan to talk about it, because i think it'd be hilarious for one of your rants. they were going to make a part two of it but i'm pretty sure it got cancelled (bc that movie franchise SUCKS)
@sofiayou know how I said it was worse than PJ? yeah, well... it doesn't even happen. also, from what I remember, uriah doesn't exist. ugh, it's all just dumb. we love milking ya book series into needless movies
Good luck! I enjoyed Divergent, but I felt like the series went downhill after that. We Can Be Mended was an even bigger disappointment than Allegiant, and I disliked the way things were concluded there.
Ughh I'm very annnooyyyedddd! I Ioved divergent and I sooooooooo wanna like the other booksss but all the people are like their trash but I still want to read them because CURIOSITY😭😭😭😭😭
go ahead and read them and decide for yourself! you might end up liking them, you never know! i enjoyed reading them way back when, but i can say that the series does go downhill. good luck!
Okay, so I started reading these books before they were all out and I was obsessed for a while, even thinking they were better than the Hunger Games (which I don't now).I think it was
my angsty teenage self, but I loved Insurgent best! I got so into Tris' inner turmoil and I was shrieking in the last act of the book. I do not believe it translated well into a movie because it was so introspective. How can you show what someone is constantly thinking? Anywhoo, then Allegiant came out and I was so bored I'd stop in the middle of the chapter and forget whether Tris or Tobias was the narrator. The outside world was a huge letdown to me, and their relationship was, as I see now, hopelessly immature.
I actually hated Insurance and Allergies. Tris was so angsty and annoying. Her relationship with Tobias was unhealthy. I hated the new plot, which made even less sense than the first one.
SJM Trash wrote: "Divergent should have been a stand-alone because Insurgent was more boring than watching grass grow, and Allegiant sucked"Agreed. Divergent is a fun enough "popcorn read", it keeps me entertained and I don't hate it. The sequels, however...no. The only good thing in the sequels is the scene where (view spoiler) I have to say that Allegiant has some of the worst worldbuilding I've read and I'm not really a worldbuilding person; I'd have much preferred if Roth had just left Divergent as an unrealistic standalone than try to justify its absurd setting.

I agree! Divergent should have been a standalone for sure. Allegiant was just... trash

omg, i came on here and saw the topic was Divergent and my first thought was ewww. i totally agree with u @sofia when u say detergent, insurgence and allergies 😂😂 it’s 100% true
Oh my goodness, this hurts me so much! Like, with Allergy, I get it. That ending forced me in a coma state. For 30 minutes. It truly did. And it SO didn’t help that this series was one of the first ones I’ve ever read. So yes, this hurts me, but so does chocolate. I’ll cook up a bag of popcorn. Who wants some?

There were a ton of plot holes, the ending was horrible, and Insurgent was just so boring. But I enjoyed the first book.
