this is one of my favourite dystopian series.it showed katniss's real emotion. like how a teen girl like her couldn't just become a all powerful fighter out of nowhere. they can break, they can suffer from trauma. like a real life girl.
Suditi wrote " I felt like the characters were easy to relate to & not too much covered in unrealistic stuff"So true! It's an amazing book, I think everyone should try!
I am currently reading the 3rd book and not enjoying it. But I did really like the 1st and 2nd book.
-I would have dnf-ed it a long time ago, but I'm just listening to the audiobook pretty fast so i can get done and know the ending.

That would be so much better than 99% of the books we're required to read now.

@sofiatrue! most of the books our teachers make us read are books they've even said they don't like lol...
We're reading Lord of the Flies right now. I hate it. Do I look like I want to read about a bunch of idiot boys being idiots?
Katniss was pretty robotic, yes. I thought the story was interesting enough for me to want to keep reading, even though I didn't care about the characters.

There's definitely an impact. You can clearly see it on all modern dystopia novels.

I LOVE THE HUNGER GAMES!! Here are my thoughts:
1) The Hunger Games was the best, then Catching Fire, then Mockingjay. Yeah. Mockingjay wasn't that good.
2) CLOVE IS THE BEST CHARACTER DON'T TRY TO TELL ME OTHERWISE although I loved Rue, too. *cough cough* loved (view spoiler)
3) The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes...ughhhhhh. It was disappointing, but interesting all the same.
4) (view spoiler)
5. Everthorne and Everlark both suck in my opinion, but if I had to chose, Everlark is the tiniest bit better. TINIEST. BIT. Katniss is an independent woman and doesn't need a man at all.
6) Oh, and the writing isn't anything special. It's not that well-written or anything.

I agree with ALL of that except I think Catching Fire because of the new characters. Also, I hated The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. 1 star.
i quit on the second book. i dnf'ed literally all hyped mg series, i think. i hated the hunger games because it was just plain bad and it made me hungry :(
this series will always have a special place in my heart. I was the target audience when they were coming out, around 16, so it hard for me XD I loved Peeta in the book, I just thought he was so sweet. I think Effie is much more likeable in the movie because she's kinder, and Catching Fire is the most accurate book to movie adaptation I've ever seen. still, if you're looking for the same themes but in my opinion a more satisfying story, check out Collins's Gregor the Overlander series. Excellent books.
I adore it, easily tied with The Diviners as my favorite series. I remember reading the first book in pieces at the library since my mom said I had to wait until I was in 8th grade to read it, and then I was able to bother her into letting me get a copy when we found one at a resale shop that summer. It was three years ago and I still remember where I was reading the first three books (THG: grandparents' basement, I stayed inside to reread it instead of swimming. CF: my bedroom, while I was supposed to be doing homework. Mockingjay: class, and then I finished it in the Walmart parking lot). I also liked Ballad, though not quite as much as the originals. I'll still probably reread it though; I want to reread the whole series in 2021. Easily the best YA dystopian series.
I liked this series. I started it and didn't know it finished so fast. And this was my first dysoptian book, and it is really good!
I loved this series it was my first YA book and it was great

I just finished the first book. Katniss was a bit robotic, but I still liked it a lot.
