I'd like to recommend Adventures in Music and Culture: Travels of an Ethnomusicologist in West Africa by Rob Baker
This is Rob's first book and is written from the heart, describing his missions trips as an ethnomusicologist in Togo and Benin. It explains how using culturally appropriated songs and instruments is a hugely effective tool for communicating. Many set-backs, breakdowns and other adventures make this an engaging read, laced with good humour and a pinch of irony!
