Cheryl Coppens | 602 comments I listened to the audio version of Leah Remini's memoir and I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. This is her story of her involvement in the Church of Scientology from the time she was a child until she broke with the church in 2013. As Leah grew up and became an accomplished actress her stature in the church grew and she became acquainted with some of the power house actors in the church such as Tom Cruise. The church expects every member to give massive amounts of money and pay for courses to advance their standing in the church regardless of income. Leah like other members didn't question this and gladly handed over what was expected. When Leah was reprimanded for questioning how the church was handling how celebrity's breaking rules she began questioning other things going on. Leah is outspoken and was not one to back down. This came to the eventual break with the church and letting the world know about the goings on in the church.

The book was at times funny and at times eye-opening with what people will believe and put up with. She could have quietly walked away, but chose to stand up for what she believed even though she had a lot to lose including her family which the church wanted to distance themselves from her - permanently. This is a good read for anyone interested in Leah Remini or the Church of Scientology.
