Goodreads Librarians Group discussion

Hi, my author page (https://www.goodreads.com/author/list...) is incorrect. I wrote the first two listed (Eyes in the Mirror and Nine Novels) but the other 16 are not mine. My website, www.juliamayer.com, is correct. Could you please help me remove the 16 incorrect titles?

I have also contributed to a book of short stories (Who Done It? Ed. by Jon Scieszka, ISBN 978-1-61695-152-8, Soho Teen 2013) and have a new book coming out this month (Painting Resilience: The Life and Art of Fred Terna, ISBN 978-1-7358762-2-1, JBJ Vision). How can I get these books added as well?

1. There are multiple authors who write with the name Julia Mayer. I created a new author profile for your specific works.

2. Goodreads differentiates between authors of the same name with spaces before the first name.

3. This author profile has 3 spaces: Julia^^^Mayer - where the ^ equals a space.
"Julia Mayer"

4. You can claim this profile by going to the author page and scroll down to where it says is this you? and continue the process from there.

5. If any works of yours go to the default Julia Mayer profile, you can ask to have them moved to your correct profile by posting in this forum. Just mention that you have the "3 space" profile.

6. I created a record for your new book, but it still needs the format: hardcover or paperback, and needs s page count. Please provide that when you get the opportunity and I will update the record.

Thank you also for adding Painting Resilience. It is paperback, 216 pages, ISBN 978-1-7358762-2-1. The e-book ISBN is 978-1-735-8762-0-7. Not sure if you need the Library of Congress Control number, but that is 2020919168.

One more note: I see that Painting Resilience has "Illustrations, Daniel Terna". I'm not sure how to categorize this, but the artwork in the book is by Frederick Terna, and was photographed by Daniel Terna. There are no illustrations per se. On most records we are just listing my name as author, and not listing illustrator. Open to your thoughts here.

Photography credit is usually listed as a standard "illustrator", but I can certainly add Frederick as illustrator credit as well.

Will the ebook be available on Amazon, or on other platforms, or only on your website?

Hi Suzi, thanks for the clarification! The ebook will be available on Amazon - we're working on setting that up now. May also be available on Google Books for ebook purchase (TBD).

Amazon "ebooks" are identified as Kindle editions, and use the Amazon ISBN, not an ISBN.

So if you use the ISBN on another platform, we can set that up, but unless it is a separate edition, I won't add the ebook ISBN, until it is used elsewhere than Amazon.

Message #8 - Robert

1. There are other authors with the same name.

2. Goodreads disambiguates between authors of the same name with spaces before the last name.

3. I moved your book to a unique profile, with the format: Robert E.^^Bailey where the ^ equals a space. You can claim this by going to the author profile page here see: Robert E. Bailey

4. When publications are automatically imported from Amazon or other sources, the "handshake' between Goodreads and the other source do not recognize multiple spaces, so the work goes to the default 1 space profile. Often when users add works, they may not be familiar with the number of spaces that this profile uses, so may only use the default spacing.

5. You can post in this forum to have it moved, or you can add the book with the 2 spaces between your first and last name before publication.

6. When you ask for assistance, it is helpful to include that your author profile has 2 spaces.

7. I added the paperback edition and updated the information on the Kindle edition record.

8. You can start a new thread, rather than adding a request in the middle of a discussion of another issue.

Not to beat a dead horse, but to make sure I was clear:

A Kindle edition has an ISBN but it does not show on Amazon and is not used on Goodreads. Only the ASIN is used on Goodreads for Kindle editions.

The ISBN for ebooks is for ebook editions on any other platform.
