November's book will be a book about a refugee. This should be a very good way to walk in someone else's shoes. Happy reading!

This is an awesome challenge, Kelly! I'm not sure yet what I want to read, but I've got a couple recommendations if anyone is interested. The Arrival by Shaun Tan is a graphic novel that illustrates the universal experience of immigration without any text. The art is so beautiful and imaginative that I had to purchase the book for myself so I could spend more time with it and revisit it often. It is such an incredibly lovely book...I adore it!
Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga is a tween/middle grade novel written in verse that won a 2020 Newbery Honor. I listened to the audio version and thought it was quite lovely...a nice way for kiddoes especially to "walk in someone else's shoes" as you said.
I'm eager to see what others are reading.
Thanks for the recommendations, Sheri!Sheri wrote: "This is an awesome challenge, Kelly! I'm not sure yet what I want to read, but I've got a couple recommendations if anyone is interested.

I am reading "Other Words for Home" by Jasmine Warga. I am reading this with my youngest daughter. I also am reading "Refugee" by Alan Gratz, with my son. So far I am really enjoying this one, it is fictional about 3 different refugees throughout history. The author is doing a great job of tying all of their stories together and showing how easy it would be for any of us to become a refugee.
Great selections, John! I put Refugee on hold.John wrote: "I am reading "Other Words for Home" by Jasmine Warga. I am reading this with my youngest daughter. I also am reading "Refugee" by Alan Gratz, with my son. So far I am really enjoying this one, it i..."
I am in the process of reading The Girl Who Smiled Beads: A Story of War and What Comes After by Clemantine Wamariya. I tried to do the audiobook, but am doing much better with the actual book on this one.
