Michelle (shelbrenn) My copy is due back Nov 15th so can start when ever

Alex (The Scribe Owl) | 249 comments Okay, I'm starting now! I got two hours of headstart last night because it looks so long, but I barely read 50 pages! I may only be a little more than 400 pages, but the font is really small and a lot of words are on a page.

So far I'm intrigued and more than a little grossed out. No kidding about the gore! The writing is lovely though. I love the narrator's little notes in the footer!

Michelle (shelbrenn) I am listening to it on audio which is 20 hrs long. So no idea on the pages #, but doing 4 hours a day. If we need to stretch it out a bit we totally can due to font size. Up to you.

The first couples of chapters I was confused, but now that some of the characters are set I am following along. Finished chapter 7. Yes author is good at describing the gore for sure. Was looking at a few reviews and some don't love all the foot notes.

Alex (The Scribe Owl) | 249 comments We don't need to stretch it most likely, but I guess we'll see. I love the footnotes, I think they bring a little levity to an otherwise grim book. What are the footnotes like on the audiobook? Do you like them?

Laura ☾ | 1105 comments Enjoy you guys! I love this series! I remember the first third of the first book I was not sure about this but then I got into it!

Michelle (shelbrenn) I got into it pretty quick. Loving the banter with Tric and Mia. Cant tell if that will turn romantic or not.

Language warning: So far my favorite section is the part where Mia is talking about the difference between calling someone a Cock and a cunt. Cock means fool and cunts have brains and teeth. LOL! Okay maybe not my favorite part, but it did make me laugh. I have a dirty mind and whitty sense of humor.

(view spoiler)

Alex (The Scribe Owl) | 249 comments Yeah, Mia really isn't afraid to speak her mind! I've barely started today's reading, but I'm getting to it soon.

Michelle (shelbrenn) What chapter are you on? I do t ha e a frame of reference as far as page numbers?

Alex (The Scribe Owl) | 249 comments I just finished reading through Chapter 26. I've got to say, things are really picking up! I was iffy on the story for the first 100 pages or so, but I'm really into it now!

Some notes:
- Wow Mia and Tric that escalated quickly
- Mia is actually a super good MC
- This worldbuilding is top-notch. The school and the way it works is so new and interesting! It's still the school trope, but I've never seen it done quite like this before.

Michelle (shelbrenn) Totally agree with you about Tric and mias relationship. No build up there. Was trying to remember her age. Young teen like 13?
I finished the book today. Had extra time. Will post once you are finished.

Laura ☾ | 1105 comments In the first book (not flashbacks) she’d be around 16

Alex (The Scribe Owl) | 249 comments I just finished too! I wasn't planning on reading all of it because it's late, but I just couldn't stop.

I really loved this book! I'll probably give it a 4.5 instead of a 5 because I didn't really care about it for the first 100 pages. I post my review here once I finish it!

Here it is: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Michelle (shelbrenn) Yes the book really picked up towards the end. Ready for next next one, but it will have to wait awhile. Cant wait to see how the events in this book shaped Mia. Can she get even stronger? She already didn't take any bull.

Alex (The Scribe Owl) | 249 comments I'd be up for reading the next one next month! I already bought the whole series xD
