I found this book pretty disappointing. I mean the magic was definitely cool and the end was great but the romance sucked and it was super slow. The two MC’s met after 50% through and had a insta-love romance
i read this book in august i think and i really liked it. tbh i didn't find it insta love. it wasn't like my favourite romance, but i liked it. and i feel like there is so much more than the romance. malik deals with anxiety and i felt like we had pretty good rep of that, we also see karina dealing with grief after she lost her mother and how that plays out in the story. my only complaint is that i found some parts of it predictable, like i realised from the beginning of the book who killed karina's mother...
Idk yeah I just prefer Children of Blood and Bone and Raybearer if you’re looking for a good African based fantasy. I just think the plot was too drawn out for me and the predictably of it as grand
