Some recent historical fiction reads that I loved:
Burning Bright by Melissa McShane is an excellent period drama with magic and a dash of romance that did not take over or overwhelm the book too much. Plus, it's full of ship battles and has some excellent characterizations.
The Lord of Stariel is a very cozy comfort read if you're looking for something low stakes and relaxing to read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book simply because of the atmosphere. It's focused on a young woman with magic who is going home to the family estate for her father's funeral after she's been away for a long time. She reconnects with her family and the estate and it's just a relaxing read overall.
