Loved it! it's one of my all time faves Actually. at first It was kinda confusing of Will. but it eventually got better.
I'm in love with it!!! I really like this one, especially how they portray Shadowhunters in the Victorian Era, with girls not as freely accepted as in TMI, but Charlotte rocks! And we'll, the twist with DeQuincey and Nate was sooo amazing, now that I could see all the foreshadowing! And I really liked Church's introduction, I had forgotten how Jem finds him! Basically, this books is perfect <3
yay! also I'm glad @Deepak that you enjoyed this one. i remeber you being confused earlier but good that you are enjoying now ;)
I was soooooo shocked by the Nate plot twist. i waa not expecting that at all. but i did figure Mortmain's deal loooong back. it was kinda obvious to me.
every time I read Will I feel like I'm reading Jace. I do not like that.I expected that from Nate, it wasn't really a surprise. I liked how Cassandra wrote the book, it was not WOW but it was good.
I'm going to start the next book as soon as I can, because even though I don't quite like it, I want to give it another chance
I've noticed something, that whenever a character or just any random person dies in a shadowhunter book, "somewhere outside the windows a church clock chimed the midday hour."
this isn't a spoiler, but in qoaad its a random fact mentioned that whenever the clock strikes a certain point in the day, it means that the gates of the heavens open. and whenever someone dies, most of the time there is a sentence like that.
when Miranda, the automaton who worked in the Dark House died in chapter 6, I noticed this sentence : 'somewhere outside the windows a church clock chimed the
midday hour.'
its such a cool fact in here. it will come back later in tda...

I can't decide between Tessa, Jem and Will!!! Okay, actually, it's Tessa in the first book, I think..
I like Jem or at least I like him more than the other characters and my least favorite character is between Nate, Tessa or Will. sorry -.-
“One must always be careful of books,” said Tessa, “and what is inside them, for words have the
power to change us.”
“Only the very weak-minded refuse to be influenced by literature and poetry,” said Tessa, determined
not to let him run wildly off with the conversation.
she is so wise lol

My favorite character is Jem, and I totally ship him with Tessa!! Why is she so hung up on Will who’s just plainly rude to anyone, beats me!Why is Jessamine your fave character though?? I’d love to know why, hehe!!
I completely agree with you on the will part @Cat. I guess most girls like rude boys with tragic past. ahahah.
I actually like Jessamine in her own way too, she just so annoying and irritating, it makes me laugh, lol.
and btw, I love Will Herondale from page one of the book, though I very much melt every time I read a scene about Jem.it like, with Will, you're full of energy and excited and having butterflies.
and with Jem, youre all calm and peaceful and happy.
@Cat I feel that Jessamine is veryyyy misunderstood. We don't know her enough that why she does or behaves the way she does. Her parents were killed and she lost her home and everything. She is not the only one, I know, but i feel like it has affected her differently. I also really hated that when she brought Tessa to see her dollhouse and was opening up to her, Tessa had thoughts like 'when can i go..' or 'why is she showing me a toy?' and when Sophie enters Jessamine acts all rude again and Tessa just shrugs not even realizing or caring that Jessie was opening up to her...
i feel like if Clary (from later series tmi) would have been in Tessa's place, she would've been sooo much more understanding and nice.
