🎸 In 1986, American rock band, No Doubt was formed in Anaheim, California. Originally, the band was formed by Eric Stefani and John Spence, with Gwen Stefani as backup vocals. Other members of the band were Jerry McMahon, Chris Leal, and Chris Webb. Its current members consist of vocalist Gwen Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young. No Doubt's musical style has been characterized as ska punk, reggae fusion, punk rock, pop punk, new wave, alternative rock and pop rock.

🎸 No Doubt signed a multi-album deal with Interscope Records in 1990 and in 1992 released a self-titled debut album. Following that, Eric Stefani started to feel withdrawn from the group and eventually by 1994 he decided to leave the band to pursue a career in animation. He was an animator for the TV series, The Simpsons, even drawing a scene involving No Doubt. Around this time, Gwen Stefani & bassist Tony Kanal’s seven-year relationship ended. The Beacon Street Collection was released and sold more than its predecessors, but it was their third album, Tragic Kingdom, much of which dealt with the relationship between Tony Kanal and Gwen Stefani, that was the catapult to commercial success.

🎸 Tragic Kingdom and the single "Just a Girl" was released in 1995 and the band began touring that same year. Singles "Spiderwebs" and "Don't Speak" were released thereafter. Widely credited with bringing ska back to the forefront of the music scene in the 1990s, the album eventually sold more than twenty million copies worldwide. At the 1997 Grammy Awards, No Doubt was nominated for two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Rock Album. Later, they were nominated for two more Grammys for Song of the Year and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, both for "Don't Speak.” Due to the success of Tragic Kingdom, the band's debut album began again to sell copies, and reached total sales of over a quarter of a million copies.

🎸 After touring ended in 1997, the band collaborated and contributed to a variety of musical projects, such as "I Throw My Toys Around" with Elvis Costello for The Rugrats Movie. Stefani also contributed vocals to track for a variety of musicians and bands, including boyfriend Gavin Rossdale’s band, Bush. Fourth album, Return to Saturn, received critical acclaim, but commercial success was lackluster. Mediocre sales contributed to a shortened tour date. Fifteen months later, the band reappeared with the album Rock Steady, which incorporated reggae and dancehall music into their work. The 2001 album was primarily recorded in Jamaica and featured collaborations with Jamaican artists Bounty Killer, Sly and Robbie, and Lady Saw. Singles "Hey Baby" and "Underneath It All", both from the Rock Stead album, won Grammys.

🎸In addition, Prince made an appearance on Rock Steady as cowriter, producer, and vocalist on the song "Waiting Room." Rock Steady also proved to be more commercially success than Return of Saturn. The album eventually was certified double platinum. Around this same time, Stefani and Rossdale made headlines when they decided to tie the knot in 2002. The couple now have two children—Kingston James McGregor Rossdale and Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale. The following year in 2003, No Doubt released a greatest hits album called The Singles 1992-2003.

🎸After a 2004 tour the band embarked on solo projects, with Stefani releasing two successful solo albums Love. Angel. Music. Baby. (2004) and The Sweet Escape (2006). Meanwhile Tom Dumont released his own solo music project, Invincible Overlord. Adrian Young, the band's drummer, played on other albums and in 2008, Tony Kanal collaborated with pop rock artist Pink on the album Funhouse. In 2008, the band resumed working slowly on their sixth effort, titled Push and Shove (2012), and released their single "Settle Down". Stefani launched her first solo arena tour in October 2005, which coincided with the news of her pregnancy of her first child, Kingston. She released her second solo dance-pop album, The Sweet Escape in December 2006.

🎸In 2010, No Doubt also released another compilation album called Icon, but they have not released anything since 2012. In a June 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, Stefani expressed uncertainty over the future of No Doubt. "I don't know what's going to happen with No Doubt. When Tony [Kanal] and I are connected creatively, it's magic. But I think we've grown apart as far as what kind of music we want to make. I was really drained and burned out when we recorded that album [2012's Push and Shove]. And I had a lot of guilt: 'I have to do it.' That's not the right setting to make music. There's some really great writing on that record. But the production felt really conflicted. It was sad how we all waited that long to put something out and it didn't get heard." Still, over the course of almost 2 decades, No Doubt won numerous awards and made several indelible contributions to the world of music.

Following that, Eric Stefani started to feel withdrawn from the group and eventually by 1994 he decided to leave the band to pursue a career in animation. He was an animator for the TV series, The Simpsons, even drawing a scene involving No Doubt. Around this time, Gwen Stefani & bassist Tony Kanal’s seven-year relationship ended. The Beacon Street Collection was released and sold more than its predecessors, but it was their third album, Tragic Kingdom, much of which dealt with the relationship between Tony Kanal and Gwen Stefani, that was the catapult to commercial success.

🎸After a 2004 tour the band embarked on solo projects, with Stefani releasing two successful solo albums Love. Angel. Music. Baby. (2004) and The Sweet Escape (2006). Meanwhile Tom Dumont released his own solo music project, Invincible Overlord. Adrian Young, the band's drummer, played on other albums and in 2008, Tony Kanal collaborated with pop rock artist Pink on the album Funhouse. In 2008, the band resumed working slowly on their sixth effort, titled Push and Shove (2012), and released their single "Settle Down". Stefani launched her first solo arena tour in October 2005, which coincided with the news of her pregnancy of her first child, Kingston. In a June 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, Stefani expressed uncertainty over the future of No Doubt. "I don't know what's going to happen with No Doubt. When Tony [Kanal] and I are connected creatively, it's magic. But I think we've grown apart as far as what kind of music we want to make. I was really drained and burned out when we recorded that album [2012's Push and Shove]. And I had a lot of guilt: 'I have to do it.' That's not the right setting to make music. There's some really great writing on that record. But the production felt really conflicted. It was sad how we all waited that long to put something out and it didn't get heard." Still, over the course of almost 2 decades, No Doubt won numerous awards and made several indelible contributions to the world of music.

🎸After a 2004 tour the band embarked on solo projects, with Stefani releasing two successful solo albums Love. Angel. Music. Baby. (2004) and The Sweet Escape (2006). Meanwhile Tom Dumont released his own solo music project, Invincible Overlord. Adrian Young, the band's drummer, played on other albums and in 2008, Tony Kanal collaborated with pop rock artist Pink on the album Funhouse. In 2008, the band resumed working slowly on their sixth effort, titled Push and Shove (2012), and released their single "Settle Down". Stefani launched her first solo arena tour in October 2005, which coincided with the news of her pregnancy of her first child, Kingston. She released her second solo dance-pop album, The Sweet Escape in December 2006.

🎸In 2010, No Doubt also released another compilation album called Icon, but they have not released anything since 2012. In a June 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, Stefani expressed uncertainty over the future of No Doubt. "I don't know what's going to happen with No Doubt. When Tony [Kanal] and I are connected creatively, it's magic. But I think we've grown apart as far as what kind of music we want to make. I was really drained and burned out when we recorded that album [2012's Push and Shove]. And I had a lot of guilt: 'I have to do it.' That's not the right setting to make music. There's some really great writing on that record. But the production felt really conflicted. It was sad how we all waited that long to put something out and it didn't get heard." Still, over the course of almost 2 decades, No Doubt won numerous awards and made several indelible contributions to the world of music.
