Please post a comment below to nominate a book for the group to read for January 2021.

Please use the "add book/author" link just above the comment box to insert a link to the Goodreads book page for the book you are nominating, so other members can more easily assess it. Apparently this only works on the desktop version of the site; if you use the app, the link is not available yet, so just be sure to put the full title and author.

You may nominate a book which has been suggested previously and did not win. You may nominate more than one book, but we might not include all of your nominations in the voting.

Please do not nominate a book which is unlikely to be available to all members, such as one which was just published within the last three months or which is only available on Kindle in the U.S.

Nominations will close on November 23 or when we have about 10 good nominations, whichever occurs first.

Herman Diaz | 120 comments I nominate Dinosaurs: How they lived and evolved. It's the best natural history of dinos for adults. I reviewed the 1st edition ( https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... ).

Unfortunately this book does not seem to be easily available. Although the hardback and e-book can be purchased from both Amazon and Barnes & Noble, they are both very expensive, and a paperback version is not available. Nor is it available in the library.

This book sounds really interesting, but it's just a bit too new. It was published just under three months ago. Give it a few more months, then try nominating it again.

This is an excellent book, but we read it already, in July 2018. Here is the discussion thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Oops, I should have checked the bookshelf. Thanks for the link to the discussion.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) | 744 comments I'll nominate Plight of the Living Dead: What Real-Life Zombies Reveal about Our World--And Ourselves by Matt Simon. I gave it a 5 star review, but would like to reread it with the group after reading Parasite Rex: Inside the Bizarre World of Nature's Most Dangerous Creatures. Parasites are so interesting. I'd really like to nominate both books. They compliment each other well.

Eleonora (eleonora_v) | 2 comments I nominate De Rerum Natura, Vol 1 by Lucretius, John Godwin or also The Walker's Guide to Outdoor Clues and Signs by Tristan Gooley

I'll second that one, Jim! I gave it 5 stars too. It was fascinating and delightfully creepy! This is the stuff of nightmares.
