Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments This'll be my first ascent of Mount TBR and I'm fairly confident I can get more than 6 for Mt Wycheproof so here I am! I haven't made any concrete choices just yet as it's both Christmas and my birthday between now and 2021 so I expect there'll be more books to add to the TBR list by the new year. I suspect a lot of my books on this journey will be fantasy and I'll update as we go along.

-----

Planned Buddy Reads from my TBR:
Feb: Black Leopard, Red Wolf
Mar: Dune
Apr: Leviathan Wakes
Aug: House of Leaves

April Update: I've finished Pike's Peak and so have moved my thread up into Mount Blanc as I readjust my sights on the higher target!

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson is book #4 and it was my first book by Sanderson I've read! Finished today. 4.5/5

message 9: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #5 is Alice Payne Arrives and I feel like it's a 3.5 star, had some good ideas but didn't grab me enough to continue the series.

message 10: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #6 was Assassin's Apprentice and another 3.5 star for me. I found it slow, which at times was a bit *too* slow, so I'm hoping there are more events in books 2 & 3.

message 11: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #7 is The Apparition Phase - 4 stars - I got through this quite quickly and there's a lot more to it than the blurb suggests!

message 12: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #8 - The Chalk Man - 3.5 stars.

message 14: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments # 10 - Dune - after a bit of a reading slump.

message 15: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments # 11 - The Empress of Salt and Fortune - 3.5 stars (might drop to 3 though tbh)

message 16: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments # 12 - Leviathan Wakes - 4.5 stars. I've reached the summit of Pike's Peak already! I can't quite believe I've done it so soon; I will have to start aiming Mount Blanc now!

message 17: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments # 13 - This Is How You Lose the Time War - 5 stars; brillig!

message 18: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments # 14 - To Be Taught, If Fortunate - 4 stars, really must get back to finish the Wayfarers series!

message 19: by Cato (new)

Cato (cato-the-cactus) I must get back to Wayfarers, too. I loved book 1 and 2, but I just never read further.

message 20: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments I just finished #2, sadly #3 & 4 won't count towards Mount TBR as I don't have a copy of 3 and 4 only came out this year :D

message 21: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments # 15 - A Closed and Common Orbit - 5 stars - a lovely cosy sci-fi that I don't know why I put off reading for so long

message 22: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #16 - To Sleep in a Sea of Stars - 5 stars - a vast, sweeping, epic space-opera with over 800 pages!

message 23: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #17 - Wain: LGBT reimaginings of Scottish folktales - 5 stars - some delightful poems based on Scottish folktales with LGBT+ twists to them, short and heartwarming

message 24: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #18 - Rogue Protocol - 4 stars - I read this in the middle of the night while I couldn't sleep because of tooth pain (no fun). It kept me distracted and I enjoyed this newest twist in the continuing story of Murderbot.

message 25: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #19 & 20 - Malice and Valour both by John Gwynne. Somewhere between 4 and 5 stars, haven't quite decided yet!

You're getting close!

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments Bev wrote: "You're getting close!"

I know... I keep getting distracted buying/reading new books and feeling guilty about my netgalley backlog.

message 28: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments DNF Update: I have hit 10 DNF's that have been cleared off the TBR. Shame I couldn't add them to the challenge proper but every little helps getting these numbers down!

message 29: by Rai (last edited Dec 11, 2021 03:51AM) (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #21 is Shutter Man, 2 or 3 stars, one of the weakest of the series.

message 30: by Rai (last edited Dec 12, 2021 05:13AM) (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #22 - River of Teeth (4 stars) - fun little alt history with hippos & queer rep

message 31: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #23 - Sisters of the Vast Black (4 stars) - well written sci-fi novella featuring nuns in space

message 32: by Rai (new)

Rai FG (rai_fg) | 78 comments #24 - Exit Strategy (5 stars) - made it to the top of Pike's Peake! Woohoo! I really enjoy the Murderbot series and hope to get a copy of the novel next!
