David Wong's John Dies at the End series is comedy/cosmic horror.
Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach trilogy is Sci-Fi/weird fiction/cosmic horror.

T.M. wrote: "The Beast House books by Richard Laymon spring to mind but I can't think of any others."Thanks T.M. This sounds creepy. Adding to my TBR list!
Jason wrote: "I liked the Strain Series by del toro, also Necroscope by Brian Lumley is excellent"
I have the Strain series in my TBR. I saw the tv series and thought it was alright. I feel like the books will be way better. Necroscope looks like a good read. Thanks Jason!

Definitely adding Blackwater to the list! Thank you.
I feel like a kid in a candy store.
Thanks for the recommendations everyone!
The Passage, Twelve, and City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin are an interesting hybrid of literary horror and post-apocalyptic adventure.
Gina wrote: "The Passage, Twelve, and City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin are an interesting hybrid of literary horror and post-apocalyptic adventure."Thanks Gina, I'll check them out! I haven't read a post-apocalyptic novel in a while.
Jonathan Maberry's Pine Deep trilogy is a horror series, I've read the first book and liked it so far.
Vickie wrote: "There are a bunch of zombie and vampire series out there, not sure if you're into those, though.😊"Sarah-Grace wrote: "Jonathan Maberry's Pine Deep trilogy is a horror series, I've read the first book and liked it so far."
Thanks Sarah-Grace and Vickie! I'll check those out too. I haven't read a zombie novel yet! I'll have to look at some. I'm open to all types!

Dead of Night
Rot & RuinThese are really good series too...
Fortress Britain
The Remaining
The Tide
Zero Day
Thanks for the recommendations and providing the links, Vickie! So many choices! I think I'll check out Jonathan Maberry's "Dead of Night" first.
As an author, I hope you don't mind me posting on this thread. I have a trilogy, the Elders, that is paranormal with elements of horror rather than straight-up horror. The first two books, Shepherd's Warning and Quinlan's Secret are out. The third book, Hayward's Revenge, is coming out in January.

You're welcome!😊
If you like zombies mixed with a lot of action and military, then this Arisen series
is awesome and goes for about 14 books, plus the author has started another series in the same world.I've also just started

Angela wrote: "If you like zombies mixed with a lot of action and military, then this Arisen series

Hi Ricky - you might want to check out this horror series that just released this year - all the books came out this year and the last one will be out near the end of December. I will list the books in the order that they are in the series. The author is: Lee Mountford
The books are:

Another series that I started reading but have not been able to get back to it yet is this one:
by David WellingtonThere are five books in the series but I have only read the first one which was awesome! It is a vampire series but there is no fluff here! LOL
Laurie wrote: " I am currently reading Haunted: Devil's Door. I really enjoyed Haunted: Perron Manner. Great author!! ..."I love Lee Mountford - I have read almost all his books except for three books. :)
Jason wrote: "I liked the Strain Series by del toro, also Necroscope by Brian Lumley is excellent"Whoa!! I was justs thinking yesterday how much I loved that series. (Necroscope) I must've read it 20 years ago, but the story still resonates with me. It was a truly different take on the vampire genre during a period of Anne Rice wanna-be's. It had history to it that lacks in a lot of books and the character development of Harry Keogh was top notch. Back before digital reading was popular obviously I had them all in paperback and the 6 times I moved I parted with a lot of them, but this is one series along with a handful of others that still reside as part of my collection. Some books are like old friends...you just can't say goodbye!

I am definitely becoming a fan!
Laurie wrote: "I am definitely becoming a fan!..."Awesome! After you read the Haunted series - you might want to try this book:
- it is scary! :)
Brian Lumley's Necroscope series is my most favourite one too. A perfect blend of spy story, horror, action and sci-fi. And Harry Keogh is a badass main character.
The Danilov Quintet by Jasper Kent;Twelve
Thirteen Years Later
The Third Section
The People's Will
The Last Rite
The first novel is set during Napoleon's siege of Moscow. It's a brilliant military history novel with fangs!
I've only read the first 2 but loved them both and will get to the rest eventually.
The Jonathan Crowley series by James A. Moore:Writ in Blood,
Dark Carnival,
The Pack'
Under the Overtree,
Smile No More,
Cherry Hill,
Boomtown,
One Bad Week ,
Where The Sun Goes to Die.
Not a series per se, but individual novels, novellas and short stories with the character of Jonathan Crowley to tie them together. A great series of books favorites by one of my favorite authors.

YES! Another great series you just reminded me about. I have them in paperback still. Read them ages ago. Dark Carnival & Under the Overtree stand out most vividly for me.
Brian Lumley also has the Titus Crow series and the Hero of Dreams series, both of which have Lovecraftian tilts to them, though in different ways.
Gianfranco wrote: "Brian Lumley's Necroscope series is my most favourite one too. A perfect blend of spy story, horror, action and sci-fi. And Harry Keogh is a badass main character."Seems like my thing! Added it to my list. Thanks Gianfranco.

Love me some Lovecraftian horror! Will check them out. Thanks Alan.
Vickie wrote: "Angela wrote: "If you like zombies mixed with a lot of action and military, then this Arisen series

Ricky wrote: "Angela wrote: "If you like zombies mixed with a lot of action and military, then this Arisen series

Ancient Enemy series by Mark Lukens - I just loved these books and although they can read as stand-alone, I would recommend starting with the 1st book Ancient Enemy.I highly recommend the series and for me they definitely fit the bill for horror in every way and not for the feint of heart. Soooo Good!!

Thank you! Added to my list!
I hope you get to read them, Ricky! I think they are some of the best horror books and I would read them again, I still have to read the last one, though.(Very Soon)!! B-)

Lora wrote: "The Holidays Tales series by Austin Crawley is shaping up to be something special. Also the High Moor series by Graeme Reynolds is excellent!"
I recently added High Moor to my list lol. Added some more werewolf stuff after starting Fool Moon haha.

I was wondering if there were any good horror trilogies or series that you thought were good?
Compared to the fantasy genre, I noticed horror doesn't have many series. Are horror series just not popular?
Thanks in advance.
