Buddy reads are a good way to get through a book, have meaningful conversations about it as your progress and connect with a fellow book lover!

How do buddy reads work?
1. Find a partner by asking for a specific book, age group (e.g YA) or genre (e,g fantasy) - use this thread to find people who are also looking for similar things and pair up!
2. Discuss through a private chat.
- what book to read?
- will you guys catch up after every 5 chapters? or just talk about it after both of you are done?
- is there a date you both want to finish it by to discuss?
- do you both want to post a review?
3. Start reading and honour your promises
- don't read ahead of your buddy (e.g if you both decide to read 100 pages in a week, don't go to pg 101 and beyond if you finish 100 in a day)

For me (cherelle), I'm good with a buddy read for YA fantasy and both YA and adult historical fiction books! Anyone interested?

I am for fiction, or YA, but I am not allowed to read it very much

i'm open to most YA books (except historical fic, i don't read it), as long as they're diverse and BIPOC.

hi katie! I thought we were going to do it all along haha, just that it takes me a million years to get a copy from the library because it is SO popular!!

and this is just a suggestion, but for buddy reads, would it be okay if we made a separate thread in this folder for each one?

Hiya guys! I'm just going to send a list of everything I'm reading this month so I can see if anyone wants to buddy read any of it! Keep in mind I can't buddy read ALL of it, I'm not THAT amazing xD

Yeah good idea! But maybe can we do the thread for buddy reads with 3 people and above? For 2 people buddy reads, private chats would be better?

okay that sounds good!! for our br, would you want to read summer bird blue by akemi dawn bowman? i recently read starfish, and i've been wanting to read this one. it's fine if you don't want to though!

I keep hearing about the keeper of lost cities everywhere! I believe the first book is called the keeper of the lost cities only. I have never read it before. And I was wondering, is anyone interested to read it? with me?😅

i have the entire series, just read it last month

I just gave my copies to my sister! I'm so sorry, looks like I just missed you. The series is great, though the first book is by far the worst of the lot. Books three and five are my favorites!

I was planning on reading all the books next year so I'm down for a buddy read of the whole trilogy!

Do you want us to open a new thread next month, where you guys can discuss the hunger games trilogy while buddy reading it? And after you guys are done with it, we can delete it.

For our Hunger Games trilogy buddy read, how do you guys want to schedule it?

I was thinking we could spend about a week per book? Or we could divide in differently like 10 days per book. That way we'd be able to finish the trilogy within the month.

I feel like these books wouldn't take long to read. I don't remember though since I read them 8 years ago 😂

(They're like 300 pages each, so pretty short. About an hour of reading for me. I think. But I read at an insane pace so...)

I read about 100 or so pages a day, but the writing isn't very complex, so I could go faster if needed.

Ooh, okay! Just a warning, I haven't been enjoying sci fi or dystopian much lately so we'll see how that goes...do you have a specific time you want to start or no? I'm reading several books right now but if we went at a slower pace then I could pick this one up too!
