Museum 2: Museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipán in Chiclayo, Peru


1. Location - Chiclayo, Peru
Task: Read a book set in South America or written by a South American author.

2. About - The museum contains most of the important artifacts (ceremonial vessels, necklaces and jewelry) found at Huaca Rajada by archeologist Walter Alva in 1987, including the Lord of Sipán and his entourage - Lord of Sipan was name given to first of several Moche mummies.
Task: Read a book with the word "Lord" in the title. Plurals are allowed.

3. Collection - Mask

Task: Read a book with one or more masks on the cover.

4. Interactive Item - based on the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipán in Chiclayo, Peru
Task: Your choice based on your selection from the collection. Required - link to the picture and explain connection.

Question about the task "Read a book with one or more masks on the cover". Is this restricted to decorative masks, or are gas masks allowed?

Any kind of mask will be fine.

For the mask task will you accept this?

I don't know if that's a mask or her face. She is a reanimated corpse according to the book blurb. Because of that ambiguity, I will say no. If someone has read the book and can affirm that it's a mask, I can revisit this.

Exactly! It fits Museum 1, About, Published in 2019. There's where I have it slotted.

Is there any website depicting the exhibits of Museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipán in Chiclayo, Peru? I could not find much in Wikipedia. Need help with this.

Google search lead me to various travel help websites. Some of them show jewellery/masks but I could not get the links which could be posted for the Interactive Tasks.

Not sure if it's a pendant, but every object in every museum is usable for creating an interactive task.

I found the item I'm using for my interactive task for this museum in TripAdvisor, search for the museum in TripAdvisor and take a look at the photos.

People are also using Instagram to find collection items. I would identify the museums you want to target for the first badge and do only those interactive tasks. When you finish the first badge, move on to the next and do 6 more.

Not sure if the mask could be worn by a person or only a mask should be depicted on the cover.

I think as long as it's prominent, whether it's worn by person or just the mask, it's fine

I was actually looking for some pictures from the Tombs of Sipan Museum, and can see cameras are not allowed inside.
Some of the pictures from Pinterest/TripAdvisor show pieces from the Huaca Rajada on-site museum, which is 40 km. away.
I found a video but can mostly see other featured pieces:

When I first started researching for this challenge, the museum had a website, but it appears to be no longer available. The idea of the interactive challenges is that you would link to a picture of one of the items so that I could see what you chose and follow along with your explanation as to how you derived your task. Your YouTube video is over 16 minutes long and defeats that whole purpose. I'm not willing to sit for 16 minutes looking at a video to find one picture.

Google the museum and go through some of the search results to find something from the collection. Here is a site from a travel agency that has 11 pictures that you could use. If none of those pique your interest, one of the other search results might have more.

I right clicked on the last picture and selected the option "open image in a separate tab" then copied the URL from the new tab.

If you don't use Photobucket, Imgur, or another photo hosting site, then this is what I prefer to see.
