Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I suppose the chair can't be a couch?

Is this one acceptable? The chair isn't very visible, but that's because someone in a big dress is actually sitting In it ;-)

Yes, it works.

I'm not sure if she's sitting on a chair or a couch since there's not much of it visible. I would disallow this one. Sorry.

The cover can have more than one chair on it.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Two books with chairs I've read before, in case it helps anyone:

In the Shade of the Monkey Puzzle Tree (The Greek Village #4) by Sara Alexi
Doc by Mary Doria Russell

message 10: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I really really want to do this museum, but I'm having a hard time with the chair. I've got benches, couches, swings, and other things to sit on, but no chairs.

I could buy this one, but before I do I'd like to make sure it will work. I can easily see the chairs, but not one item on the cover is very prominent.

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

Kristie | 19336 comments I've got a few with chairs. First one that comes to mind is Fractured Fractured by Catherine McKenzie

Edit: also The Hideaway The Hideaway by Lauren K. Denton . Is that the version of Attachments you have available to you? The other version is Attachments by Rainbow Rowell .

message 12: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60097 comments The chairs are pretty small on the edition you posted, Peggy. If you could get the edition Kristie posted, it would be a better choice. I'd be hesitant to approve the smaller one. They need to be more prominent.

message 13: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Thanks both! I could get the edition Kristie mentioned too, but only at full price and I'm not sure that's worth it.

Maybe I'll just leave this one open for a bit and hope I come across a chair cover sometime this year ;-)

I also have The Silver Chair but chronologically it's book 5 and I only read the 1st in the series.

I just stumbled across one on today's Kindle Daily Deals. I don't know whether it's on sale across the pond, but it might be worth checking out.

Yes, I'll accept it.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments Thanks Janice!

This was a read from my real life bookclub before I discovered Goodreads, and I never got past the first chapter as I realised I should read the first book first. Will be good to finally read it after 9 or more years!

Which edition will you be reading? That will be the determining factor.

message 27: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3034 comments It is actually the Audiobook through my library with that exact cover, but there is no cover art attached to it in Goodreads :(

Disregard, I found a link with the art. I don't know why it wasn't coming up before, but it's all good now :) And, talk about a crazy book, totally awesome!

message 29: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60097 comments I'm glad you found the cover. I'll look forward to your review when you finish it.

message 30: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3034 comments I actually finished it this evening, and it was really good! It was Native American folklore, meets a dark version of Red Riding Hood, meets werewolves, and the have it set in Ontario 👍 I really enjoyed it 😃

message 31: by Janice, Moderator (last edited Feb 01, 2021 07:29AM) (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60097 comments It has so few ratings and low at that. But I thought it sounded really good, so based on your comments I'll add it.

ETA - the coverless edition seems to be a duplicate and not combined with the edition you read. The one you read has a much better rating.

message 32: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3034 comments But the good link doesn’t come up when you search the name? I had to go in through the author profile and copy and paste to make the link 😞 Just glad it worked

I searched the title and the only edition I got was the coverless one. Empire of the Wild (book number 56803464). The main book page does not list any other editions.

If you click on the author's name, you see Empire of the Wild (book number 45024447) listed AND further down on the list, you get the coverless edition. A librarian would need to combine these editions.

Would Gulf Coast Cottage (Blackbird Beach, #1) by Maggie Miller be acceptable for this task? This has only the Kindle edition and the page count is 251 as per link:

Thanks.

Amazon has a paperback edition at 251 pages, so it is fine.

That is more a love seat than a chair in my opinion.

message 42: by Odette (new)

Odette (odman) | 997 comments I suppose it is more like a sofa than a chair or seat for one person. Will continue looking.

Grainne Coughlan | 1369 comments Hi Janice,

I read a book of poetry for the interactive challenge. Is that allowed?

Specifically, this book
Bull
Bull by David Elliott

The task I set was: Read a book with Bull in the title based on the Paulus Potter painting of the bull.

It's not one of the excluded genres, so I will hesitantly approve it. My concern is that the word count wouldn't be equivalent to a novel of 175 pages.

message 45: by Grainne (new)

Grainne Coughlan | 1369 comments Right ok, thank you Janice.

I have another book that I am half way through that could also work for the interactive challenge.

https://www.mauritshuis.nl/en/our-col...

Based on this painting, I could set the task: read a book where the main character is a doctor.

The Return

Or I can have another search in the museum for another option.
