It's not really a disaster story from the sounds of it. I was thinking along the lines of hurricanes, tornados, moonsoons, etc.

Maybe it would fall under natural disaster if whatever is threatening the birds is significant enough to call it a disaster. This might be one of those books that needs to be read first in order to make the determination.

Jayme | 4716 comments I've read Migrations and it's the story of a woman who follows the last of the terns after global warming has ravaged the oceans and raised the sea levels. I don't know if that helps? :)

Okay, I will allow it after all. Liz, you're good to go.

Thanks Jayme for clarifying that.

Amanda | 1844 comments Will The Fated Sky work for climate disaster? The first book is about a meteorite hitting the earth and causing global warming, leading to a need to colonize space.

I would say that's more of natural disaster which would be Museum 38, Location, Natural Disaster.

Amanda | 1844 comments Ok. I don't think I'm understanding the difference between a climate disaster and a natural disaster. Would Dry work? It's about southern California's drought and water crisis.

Yes, Dry would work.

Natural disaster is more like an earthquake, volcano, rock slide.
Climate disaster is more weather related - hurricane, tornado, drought.

That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation, Janice.

While it looks intriguing, I don't think it quite fits the criteria.

Amanda | 1844 comments Ok, would this book work for climate disaster?
Death in the Air: The True Story of a Serial Killer, the Great London Smog, and the Strangling of a City
It's about the London Smog of the 1950's, caused by air pollution.

I can't tell from the blurb if it's primarily about the smog or about the serial killer. Are the two events even connected? It seems like a weird concept for a book. You might have to read this book to determine it's theme. If it is the smog, it would fit. But if it's just a backdrop of the serial killer with no connection, I'd say no. That probably doesn't answer your question.

message 23: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 1844 comments It does seem weird, which is what drew me to it. :) I'll just read it and see where it fits.

Janice (jamasc) | 60637 comments It sounds intriguing at any case.

message 25: by Viji (new)

Viji | 1595 comments 2. About -
Task: Read a book that was published in 2000

I also find a similar task for Musuem 31 - About:
Task: Read a book originally published in 2000

Does it mean that
1. for the task for Museum 14 that the edition read could be published in 2000 and
2. for the task for Museum 31, the book read should only be originally published in 2000

I was finalising the books to be read to complete at least Badges 3 and 4 and I came across these two tasks only now.

Could someone please help me with this query? Thanks.

Janice (jamasc) | 60637 comments Any task referring to publishing date is for "original" publishing date. I inadvertently ended up with some duplicate tasks.
