Would Thunderhead work for the About task: Read a book with fire on the cover? The flames are blue ;)
Marie Claude wrote: "Would Thunderhead work for the About task: Read a book with fire on the cover? The flames are blue ;)"I'm going to say no. Remember, cover tasks need to have the item prominent (large). Those flames get lost in the cover. Sorry.
I think it's as the tasks describes Marie Claude, so on the cover only. There are also tasks that allow cover and title, but it's always clearly stated.
I think I found one... LOL That's always the task I have problem with... I don't know why, but I seem to never buy books with fire on the cover LOLWill this one work?

Absolutely - it ticks off the boxes of Prominent and Large. There's no ambiguity about that cover.

"Yes, I will accept that.
Looking for a ruling on the interactive task, At one of the exhibitions of the Art Institute of Chicago, paintings of Bisa Butler have been displayed, who is known for her paintings celebrating black lives.
So for this task I thought of going for a book written by black author.
Sounds okay?

Yes. Just make sure you link to her exhibition and explain that when you report your task.
Margo wrote: "Hi Janice, is the fire on this cover enough to qualify for the "about" task?
"Barely. It might be a better fit for the shapes on cover task for the circles. (Museum 13, About)

Ah well, worth a try ;-)
For - Collection - Theme of Mental Illness. Would you accept PTSD as a mental illness? I am reading Wave which I had originally thought would fit one of the disaster tasks, as it is based around the occurrence and after effects of the tsunami that hit Sri Lanka. But, by the end of chapter one the tsunami is over, and all that is left is grief, and pain, and anger, and sadness, and loss, and PTSD. I'm just not sure if that is the true intent of the task?
Jenn wrote: "For - Collection - Theme of Mental Illness. Would you accept PTSD as a mental illness? I am reading Wave which I had originally thought would fit one of the disaster tasks, as it is..."Yes, PTSD will count.
Would ADHD count? I'm reading The Extraordinaries and the main character has ADHD that is bad enough that he needs to take medication.
Abby wrote: "Would ADHD count? I'm reading The Extraordinaries and the main character has ADHD that is bad enough that he needs to take medication."If it's impacting his ability to function well, I would accept it.
For theme of mental illness - would brain damage count? Specifically I am wondering about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome that causes mental differences.
Katrisa wrote: "For theme of mental illness - would brain damage count? Specifically I am wondering about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome that causes mental differences."A brain injury isn't a mental illness. It's a disorder, but I'm looking more for illness.

That's fine - I was just wondering because of Audible's daily deal yesterday that I bought :)
Museum 18: The Art Institute of Chicago2. About -
Task: Read a book with fire on the cover.
Would
work for the above task? I intended to us this book for another task but if it fits the fire task, I would use it for this museum.
Thanks.

There is fire centered on the cover, so yes.

"Yes, it will be fine.
I know this is a very famous book but I never read it. From the blurb and the shelves I don't see anything that clearly points to mental illness though (except that maybe Misery suffers from one, but as I said, haven't read the book so not sure). Maybe one of the other members has read it and knows more.
I’ve read it (and saw the movie). She is crazy but she was his biggest fan and he killed off her favorite character. (view spoiler) Is that mentally ill??? I think Janice wanted something more along the lines of diagnosed mental illness, not guilty by reason of insanity. Does that make sense?
Thanks Cherie! I agree about mental illness having to be clear, so unless she's diagnosed with an illness I'm going to say no.
Peggy wrote: "Thanks Cherie! I agree about mental illness having to be clear, so unless she's diagnosed with an illness I'm going to say no."ok thanks Peggy
For the first book: from the blurb I don't really see any link to mental illness, but then in the reviews it is mentioned. I don't know if the theme would be big enough (I'd say yes if it's a recurring theme, but no if it's just about one encounter with someone with a mental illness). I think it's one you have to read to find out.The second one seems like one that fits, as it's set in a mental asylum.
I know I am a nuisance but I don't want to read a book that I really don't want to read only to find out it does not fit once I have read it and I am struggling with this mental illness idea = so as an alternative this has MPG mental illness and should fit yes?Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock

As a psychologist I'm just going to stick to our 'bible' of mental health, which is DSM-5. Addiction is in it, so you're good to go!
Peggy wrote: "As a psychologist I'm just going to stick to our 'bible' of mental health, which is DSM-5. Addiction is in it, so you're good to go!"Good! I read Long Bright River for another task but it ended up not working so I am trying to find another place for it. The book was great!
3. Collection Task: Read a book with a theme of mental illness
Would Trust Me be acceptable for this task? I find only the Kindle Edition for this.
Thanks.

There is no physical book and the kindle is 229 pages with basically guestimated pages. I think we'll err on the side of caution and say no. Besides, reading the book blurb the MC's ex-husband had a mental illness but he doesn't seem to be in the picture. The story seems to center around her new found love. The theme is to be mental illness and not just a mention of it.
