New Adult Book Club discussion

Hi all :) I’m looking for help finding books where the heroine or main character doesn’t fall in love with the first guy she meets... or at the very least there isn’t this instant love/like for someone she doesn’t even know. I’m so tired of reading these books where the female character is instantly in love with the first guy she meets or likes someone who treats her like crap. I’d love to read a book where the the character plays hard to get or doesn’t have instant love with the very first guy who shows her attention .... I enjoy Sarah j Maas books because I know her main characters always have depth and don’t always end up with the first guy they date ! Any suggestions are so welcomed :) thanks !

If you want a good page turner that misses out the romance altogether (and doesn't feel like it was missed out purely to make a point of 'this book has no romance') try anything by Eileen Cook. They're YA psychological thrillers and well worth a read.

Or of you like fantasy then A Throne of Swans by Katherine and Elizabety Corr of Sisters of Sword and Song (can't recall who that is by)
