The Manga Squad discussion

I am the odd otaku! I have been into anime and manga for about 15 years now. I started out with a few mangas, and that quickly grew to hundreds. I started with a few animes on Toonami and that soon grew to watching all the toonami.
I enjoy learning about Japanese culture, as well as any other cultures. Feel free to chat with me here, ask questions, anything like that :)

This is a list of all the mangas I own or have read or at least started! I'll italicize those I am not finished/ caught up with!

Yeeesss .hack is awsome! Thanks Greg! I'll make you a room!

Wow. you've read a lot. haha. That's awesome! How are you liking Vampire Knight memories? How much of it have you read? I'm up to date I think. I really like it. probably about as much as I liked vampire knight when I read that. ha. I gave that series 5 stars. Back when I read it a few years ago. I assume you also like vampire knight if you've continued and read Vampire knight memories? lol

Grace, I have actually not read any of memories yet LOL! I did absolutly love Vampire Knight though!

So, I now feel accomplished. All my mangas are now shelved correctly, rather than laying in piles on my shelves, in front of the other mangas! I realized in this process- I have a problem... Two whole bookcase are devoted to mangas LOL! I have 7 others that have all books. One whole shelf of that is american comics and graphic novels!

I forgot to add a few

nice mine are mostly stuffed in manga boxes. I've run out of bookshelf space long ago. That's why I've gone mostly digital in my reading.

Greg, I have plenty of digital books as well haha! I try and donate books I wont reread every so often, but its gotten harder now.

I also read a lot of comics. from many different publishers

I finished Paradise Kiss and I like it. I love Yazawas atyle, her charactees are always dressed so great as well.

OH MY... YOU'VE READ SO MANY

Gratz on finishing a series. That always feels good.

Thanks Eden and Greg!

I started Zom 100 Bucket List Of The Dead, and it's pretty entertaining. There is fan service, as well as violence, obviously, but overall it was more fun that I was expecting.

you had me at fan service and violence...

Hahaha Greg! This is one where there is fan service for all- All the men are quite athletic ;)

Greg saying what we were all thinking.

Oh no, I started something LOL!

I can deal with some husbando's on my quest for more Waifu. It's all good.

Unfortunately most of the Waifus are zombies so you may wanna have some distraction available haha!

just pre-ordered zom 100 paperback comes out early march here by the looks of it

Jenny wrote: "Unfortunately most of the Waifus are zombies so you may wanna have some distraction available haha!"

does chloroform work on Zombie's?

Hmmm... depends on what type of zombie i suppose.
Speaking of, has anyone seen The Girl With All The Gifts? I love that movie so much!

Girl With All the Gifts is phenomenal. And MR Carey is a fabulous horror author. I haven't read GWAtG or the Sequel The Boy on the Bridge yet. But I enjoyed his novel Fellside and am absolutely in love with his Book of Koli series. If you like dystopian novels it's awesome. Just waiting on the last book which comes out next month.

Yay a fellow fan! I may have to check out his other books, thanks for the titles Greg!

Just got zom 100 on comiXology looking forward to starting it

Looking forward to your thoughts!

I am working on the New 522 iteration of The Flash, and have to say four volumes in, it's not horrible like alot of other New 52 era stuff. Read the Donny Cates Venom run, up to volume 4, with War Of The Realms, Carnage Family Feud and another DC/Hanna Barberra- Dasterdly and Muttly. Also finished Rebirth's Trinity, and am at volume 11 of Tokyo Ghoul.

I've now finished Tokyo Ghoul and am working on Tokyo Ghoul re, also finsihed the New 52 Flash run, working on Aquaman now. Finished more Hanna Barbera Presents- Ruff and Reddy Show and Snaggepuss Chronicles.
I ordered Godchild to replace my original set that got loaned and never returned, as well as Cain Saga its prequel. Got a one shot, Gaba Kawa and Girlfriends as well. I picked up the Humble Bundle as well, so I am set for a while LOL!

How’d you like Tokyo Ghoul?

I LOVED IT! I like the dark psychological stories, so it was right up my alley!

I finished Chainsaw Man a while ago, and am now reading The Quintessential Quintuplets (just finished vol 4) and The Promised Neverland (on volume 12) and am enjoying them for the most part. Quunts is comedy so its hit and miss for me at times, but is ok overall

Quintessential Quintuplets is so good. One that I would definitely read again. I prefer the manga to the anime. Not saying the anime is bad at all. The manga actually goes into depth with each girl toward the end and shows who Futaro ultimately picks and will marry. The anime leaves all of that up in the air and it frustrated me lol.

Yes, I am so wanting to onow who he marries! OMG, the anime would drive me NUTS!!

So, since Comixology apperently does not really have complete series, I stopped at vol 7 of Quints for now. They did have all of Battle Angel Alita, so read that earlier this month, and right now am going to read 4 out of the 5 Love Hina omnibus since thats all Comixology has of that. Then, Alive! The Next Evolution, they have 18 of 21, so I'll read those and then go back and complete Tokyo Tarareba Girls, Love Hina and Quintessential Quintuplets... Plus, I am goanna finish The Promised Neverland!

Oh, and I finished I Want To Eat Your Pancreas. Dang, that was something...

About halfway through Love Hina and its pretty funny for the most part. I do like how the relationships are all developing as well. My libary has all of Attack On Titan, and apperently Before The Fall as well, so sorry Alive, see ya next year LOL!

Hi. :) I see from your first post that you’ve at least started Dorohedoro? How have you liked what you have read of it so far? I read the first 7 volumes and gave em all either 2 or 3 stars. Just could never really get into it. But I hear it’s pretty popular. What are your thoughts on it?

Hi Jenny!
Sheesh am I the only one disappointed with how Nana was left on hiatus for how many years now???! I havent watched the movie or the anime…I'm wondering is it any different? Does it actually give you closure than the manga?

Grace- I liked Dorohedoro, at least the first two volumes that I read. I borrowed them, so have not gotten any more yet, but I do want to finish it eventually!
Rafia- No, I was sooo disappointed in the hiatus of Nana as well! I was supprised at how invested I got, since I usualy dont like soap operas. As for the anime and movies, I've not watched them so I'm not sure if they give any closure, although I have heard the anime folows the first half of the manga and then stops... urg more hiatus!

I recently finished The Promised Neverland. I thought it was ok, but I was not a huge fan of the happy ending. I feel like if Emma had never remembered it would have been fine, since they still all lived.
I also read a few Manga Classics- Macbeth and Dracula. I have Frankenstein, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Anne of Green Gables waiting as well, and need to find Othello and Les Miserables at some point!
