Saw this idea of separating BOTM Discussions into intervals over at the reading group BOOKS GO BOOM and it's genius! Join their group as well!

I decided to read until chapter 36 for today. Here are my thoughts on chapters 31-36:

(view spoiler)[ I'm starting to like Sel more now. I used to hate him but I can see some of the good in him. It was nice of him to help Bree out with her training! I'm so glad Bree did well in the combat trial! My favourite scene was when she beat Vaughn. I couldn't stand him so I'm glad she ended up defeating him. It's a plus that he's now disqualified from the tournament. Also, I can't believe Sel is at risk of losing his position! Actually, I had a feeling he would be punished for all the problems he caused with Bree, but I didn't expect him to be at risk of losing his humanity... I'm starting to feel bad for him now. Chapter 38: (view spoiler)[ It's nice seeing Sel and Bree get along. But now I worry there might be a love triangle that'll happen in this book... Also, wasn't expecting for Sel to confess he had feelings for Nick in the past! At least now we are learning more about him. (hide spoiler)]

Just finished chapter 40. (view spoiler)[ Both chapters 39 & 40 were really sad! I feel bad for Sel and Bree... First Sel finds out the truth about his mom and how she was behind opening the gate and losing her sense of humanity. Then Bree finds out that her mother's death was just an accident so now she has to come to terms with that. The scene at the end with her and Nick was really sad.

I'm sure she will end up seeing the people of the Order again. I just wonder how she'll ever go back there. (hide spoiler)]

I don't think I ever really hated Sel. I definitely didn't like him but never truly hated him and I now I he's inching slowly more on my good side. (view spoiler)[ I was smiling so hard when Bree beat Vaughn though I don't know how realistic that was. Then again Bree is did bring the brains and smarts to the fight. Roughed him up! But then he had to go and be a hothead and stuff.🤬 When Bree and Sel got along, I was like... FINALLYYYYYYY! (hide spoiler)]
