Ban This Book discussion

In the book “Ban this Book” by Alan Gratz fourth-grader Amy Anne Ollinger gets a surprise that would soon change her life. Amy Ollinger is a fourth grader that is obsessed with reading. She uses reading as a way to escape things, like her parents who only pay attention to her younger siblings and just the normal struggles of her fourth-grade life. It all started going downhill when Amy Anne went to go get her favorite book from the school library From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, their librarian Mrs. Jones told her it had been banned from the shelves!

Interpretive Question:
If Amy Anne had the resources to have her favorite book outside of the library, was it needed for her to cause such a scene trying to get back in the school library?

Was more about the love for reading and her book, or the fact she thought she was having her rights taken away?
