"Under a Flaming Sky: The Great Hinckley Firestorm of 1894" by Daniel James Brown
Again suggested on FB and it sounds interesting
El verdugo de Dios (The executioner of god) by Toti Martínez de Lezea
. It's related with witch hunting (and sadly with witch burning )
I read A Burning by Megha Majumdar this year and it was a decent read. I haven't found my tbr for this prompt just yet.
I think am going to reread The Divine Comedy for this, the third section of which is "the inferno". I read it whilst at university but it might be nice to read it again.
my book for this prompt is the House Across the Street by Lesley Pearse it was my 3rd penguin book but fits here better. house gets set on fire n 2 occupants killed.
Completion Post:Just finished reading: "Ink and Ashes" written by Valynne E. Maetani (★★★★☆), which centers on Claire Takata, a teenager, discovering a dangerous secret about her dead father, which would change her life irrevocably in this debut contemporary thriller.
Maetani made a fantastic debut, which packs a highly suspenseful blend of action, intrigue, and teen romance. Interspersed between chapters are letters that the protagonist has written to her dead father, which creates an important back story. Furthermore, Maetani writes excellently about grief and loss – especially when she discovers the secret about her dead father.
I read Under a Flaming Sky: The Great Hinckley Firestorm of 1894 by Daniel James Brown. It follows the personal stories of survival and loss before, during, and after the fire while also giving fascinating information on the nature of fires and the destruction they leave behind. It's an incredibly immersive book that reads like a thriller at times.
Roberta wrote: "Thinking about reading this one as I've heard good things about it:Angela's Ashes"
This is the one I also chose.
The Library Book by Orlean is a great read about a major fire that destroyed much of the Los Angeles Central Branch Library.
A 5th Portion of Chicken Soup for the Soul: 101 More Stories to Open the Heart and Rekindle the Spirit by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. "Rekindle" is definitely a fire-related word!
This Is The Night Our House Will Catch Fire by Nick Flynn. A memoir https://cdnbookworm.blogspot.com/2021...
We read this book for book club and it was a perfect fit
