As always, this prompt fits almost any genre and could be fiction or non-fiction. The character could be the main protagonist, an antagonist, or any other major or minor character. There are some selfish characters we hate and some that we love. Which book did you choose?

I totally agree about Frankenstein. The doctor is so selfish. I can't believe he just leaves his creation to fend for himself.

Ben Truong | 60 comments Completion Post:

Just finished reading: "Gone with the Wind" written by Margaret Mitchell (★★★★★) it is historical fiction romance, which centers on the struggles of young Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner, who must use every means at her disposal to claw her way out of poverty during the American Civil War and Reconstruction Era.

Mitchell has accomplished an astounding feat in creating a narrative that encompasses nearly the entire spectrum of emotions in the human experience, all while critiquing southern society, stereotypical gender roles, class, and other issues during the Civil War and Reconstruction Era of American history.

Suzanne | 6 comments I’m slotting Daisy Jones & the Six into this category, now that I’ve read it. Billy is maybe the most selfish character? But none of them come out looking great, except maybe Graham, Pete, Rod and Simone.

Others who read this - what do you think? Is it a good fit for the prompt, or should I put it somewhere else?

Brandi A Room Made of Leaves by Kate Grenville A Room Made of Leaves by Kate Grenville

This story shows different types of selfishness from one person's selfish narcissism to anothers guilt over being selfish in holding something for themselves. It's an interesting look at how it may have been in the MC's mind, even though the letters she sent through real life history say something completely different.
