Yalonda (yalondade) | 81 comments CHALLENGE COMPLETE. I read The Flying Sorcerers The Flying Sorcerers by David Gerrold .

Beware: this was published in 1971 & the sexism is horrendous. Is the timeless sci-fi "advanced human meets pre-tech humanoid species, becomes stranded due to arrogance, & has to win over the locals before he can find a way to contact the mothership for a lift back home" theme. The twist is that it is told by a local peace-keeper instead of the human and/or the local protagonist. Exceptionally well-built world. The character names made me giggle & the campy humor is often entertaining.

Challenge Completed - I actually ended up reading The Haunting of Tram Car 015, by P. Djèlí Clark. Loved it! This is a short novella which I listened to as an audiobook. It's about the haunting of a tram car BUT this book is set in an alternate history setting of Cairo in 1912 - where magic and magical creatures have been released into the World.

I like the sound of this! I am going to start with the tiny first story (A Dead Djinn in Cairo, 43 pages, ebook) and move on from there.

Cecil Huston | 239 comments Challenge complete! Just finished The Haunting of Brynn Wilder by Wendy Webb by Wendy Webb. Not quite what I expected, but was a pleasant surprise!

message 12: by Simone (new)

Simone (simonec75) Since I still had so many books I wanted to finish, I didn't have any keywords but the "of" on my list. So I read this one:

House of Dragons (House of Dragons, #1) by Jessica Cluess

Elba M (elbamsosa) | 69 comments Hi to all of you and Happy Holidays. My book for this month challenge is Before the Crown by Flora Harding. I did enjoyed it because is was more about the beginning of their relationship from the point of view of Prince Philip.
