Dear Librarians,

I have got new book covers for my four part romantic serial Brave. Could you assist me with updating the covers on Goodreads book pages?

@Melissa--pssst...as the author, if you like, you can choose to set the new book covers to be the featured/default/primary covers that show in search results, on author page, series page, etc.

If not set by you, goodreads just features the most shelved/rated/popular edition. If you do set, you will not hurt /lose any ratings/reviews or reader book catalogs.

Directions are at top of this discussion group, #4 in the Author FAQs. (If you have trouble setting, contact goodreads staff at support@goodreads.com; librarians are always happy to help but default editions can only be set by author or goodreads staff). Basically, just go to the new bookcover editions as linked above, click to edit the book, and midway down right-hand column click the choice to make it the primary/default edition.

Thanks. I know this feature and use it every time I update a cover. But I don't know how to update covers without asking librarians.

#5 - You can just click the "add a new edition" link on the book page, then create the new edition without the ISBN/ASIN. After complete just reference the ISBN/ASIN in the description field.

I assumed that you knew this feature, as ACEs had been added previously! :)

Anyway, the box set is here. I've also added it to the series, as it should be.

Yes, Philip is right that you can easily add them yourself by clicking on the "add new edition" button then adding the new cover to that. You can also add the librarian notes yourself (as you should be able to see I've done if you go into the edit screen - these notes mean that it shows up on the combine screen).

The steps I use are as follows:
- click on "add a new edition" button
- fill in all fields, apart from the ISBN/ASIN field
- in the description field, add in the description but at the top mention (in italics) that it is an ACE/alternate-cover edition of ASIN/ISBN
- once created, go back in to edit the edition and add the ACE information to the "librarian note" field at the top

Cover change reverted. We do not change covers of published editions but instead add alternate-cover editions.

As per my above comment, we do not change book covers but instead add alternate-cover editions (ACEs). Please read here for more information.

As for changing your author name - I have noticed that you have tried to change your name, but it is not something you can do yourself - only GR staff can do it. So this is something that you will have to contact GR Support about: https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta....

Slight problem with that ... Author has changed their name ... I should know, I'm the author, so previous book covers are now wrong! I would like them removed ... This is by the authors request! I don't see that there is a problem with that.

Did you change the author details as requested or is there another place I need to post this, as for some stupid reason I no longer have the ability to update or change my own author account any more!?

I don't think you can actually delete your Faye Cross since you wrote a book under that name which has reviews and ratings on it.

I have logged in as Faye ... But I've already changed my name on my profile original profile. It's just that I can't do it on my author profile (annoyance). Instead librarians have just created another author profile for me ... I've had to contact a librarian friend to remove it ... But don't worry I message goodreads now to sort out the problem, that my friend noticed. Cheers for the help anyway ...

Ah, thanks for that info. I think that's been updated since I was last fully active! :)

This is not something that you or librarians can do. If you are going to be writing As Gemma from now on, you may wish to switch the account you control to that one. But that is definitely something you will need to contact support about.
