Ellerie Downing lives in the quiet town of Amity Falls in the Blackspire Mountain range--five narrow peaks stretching into the sky like a grasping hand, bordered by a nearly impenetrable forest from which the early townsfolk fought off the devils in the woods. To this day, visitors are few and rare. But when a supply party goes missing, some worry that the monsters that once stalked the region have returned.

As fall turns to winter, more strange activities plague the town. They point to a tribe of devilish and mystical creatures who promise to fulfill the residents' deepest desires, however grand and impossible, for just a small favor. But their true intentions are much more sinister, and Ellerie finds herself in a race against time before all of Amity Falls, her family, and the boy she loves go up in flames.

Yay! I'll try to get to it this weekend

Summer (view spoiler)[ I wonder if this will have fae? Her sister's imaginary friend, the girl who convinced Cyrus to start the fire, and Whitaker could be fae that can change shape? (hide spoiler)]

Autumn (view spoiler)[ Whitaker is obviously one of the magical creatures, though I think he really does like Ellerie. I'm not sure about their uncle and cousin, I don't believe they just decided to come back now. (hide spoiler)]

Winter (view spoiler)[ the town is really going to hell. No food, fighting and killing animals, Sam being a huge douche. I'm worried Ellerie and her sisters won't get out (hide spoiler)]

Spring (view spoiler)[ Seriously Ellerie, how did you not know Whitaker was one of them? When she guessed Lyra's name, it felt a bit like Rumplestiltskin. I'm glad she was able to send her away and free Whitaker from her service.
Will he be human now or continue to not age? Why didn't we see any more of her parents throughout the entire story?

I feel like this was okay, but like the author's previous story, it felt underwhelming and was fairly slow paced (hide spoiler)]

Summer - (view spoiler)[wow okay I didn't expect this book to be so dark or dreadful ahah. I'm afraid of what's to come and what's already happened. This town is going crazy and the strangers who are probably fae/the monsters are creepy and making everyone turn on each other. I wonder who the woman since apparently "she is coming" (hide spoiler)]

This was my first book by the author and I liked it but yeah it took me a little while to get through it. I think I'm going to give it 3.5 / 4 stars. I got sucked in this story/this town easily and the atmosphere chilled me at times (hide spoiler)]

Yeah it has a slow, steady pace that gets creepier as it goes
