It's the middle of December and holiday preparations and New Year countdowns are everywhere we turn (even if they look a bit different for 2020) Do you have favorite books you go back to this time of year? Do you like to sink into mindless holiday romance like I do?

I went on a bit of a seasonal romance binge recently and read In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren, This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens and The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss. Now I'm balancing that out with some Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline.

Tell me what you're reading, or what you like to read this time of year.

I loved One Day in December by Josie Silver and I'm planning on reading Mr. Dickens and His Carol: A Novel by Samantha Silva and of course Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris

Those are great suggestions, Jessica and Athena! I love the book by David Sedaris too and always thought of it whenever touring Macy's Santaland. I've just discovered Georgette Heyer's mystery series; always thought she was a romance writer. She's terrific. Definitely a cozy read.


Also discovered a classic mystery from 1933, a psychological portrait of a murderer, titled "Portrait of a Murderer: A Christmas Crime Story" by Anne Meredith.
