LOL I'd be just as confused, except I have teenagers :-)
I do not have a discord account so I don't know of any good reading groups there.

A lot of SFF booktubers have discord servers if you like SFF/have interest in following their channels. Some creators that I know have them (by Youtube channel name - can find their discord links in their video descriptions if you're interested)Jessie Mae

I actually created a section for the reading challenge in my own Discord. I'm just starting out streaming so there's not a lot of people in it. And most of them are more gamers than readers! I'm hoping to get a few people interested in the idea as the year progresses. But yes, a Discord channel would be great. Can you imagine just being able to jump into voice chat for a discussion on the books you're reading for a particular prompt?!
I think this would be a great idea. I've been part of a discord book chat before, but only once. I'm no expert.
I don't have a Discord but I do have a 17 year old that can show me all about it...I'm only 33 (had him at 16) so it's not that I'm totally decrepit, it's just that these kids have taken all of my functioning braincells and absorbed them themselves. I'd love to be part of something like this!
I just stumbled across this today, a Goodreads group for a Discord book club:
https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
(The group page has a link to their Discord)

I'd join this Discord! I'm part of a couple but the conversations and posting are not always consistent.
I've only used Discord for Star Trek role playing. I never even knew there was one for books! I'd be interested.
Krys wrote: "I've always been a huge discord user (yay, gaming!) but I've noticed there have been a large uptick of reading groups popping up. Do we happen to have one? Or does anyone know of any good grown-up ..."Life’s Library is a good book club on discord.
I just create an account on Discord yesterday. Mostly to share funny gifs with my sons, but I'd like to see book related things too. I just need to figure out how it works.
Uniquely Kmee wrote: "I have a discord but I've never seen one for books"The Book Club on discord. You can google it.
Teri wrote: "Shows what I know - I expected this thread to be about some big fight in the group. haha" So did I! lol
I am always on Discord, met most of my reading friends there due to readathons, so I am 100% up for a Popsugar group! *volunteers to be a mod for said Discord*
Invite for the Ultimate Popsugar Reading Challenge Discord!Just in case anyone's interested! Feel free to share :D
https://discord.gg/RWKxFQzQdGServer for popsugar! It’s unofficial but we are all participating in the challenge here :)
@Rachel I made a server 6 days ago, if I’d known one had already existed.. 🙈 Now I feel awkward trying to get members ha
I created one mid August (I am 29 so an adult. It is all ages and I think there are some young people in there but I believe most are in their 20s so far):https://discord.gg/DJRSt9ddhD
It's not Popsugar-centric, just reading centric, but you're welcome to talk about Popsugar in there!
So I know there are a couple of discords for PopSugar floating around here already, but I also made one that's like a straight up book club if anyone is interested in joining!https://discord.gg/wJb9e3cSxX
If this comment/post isn't okay just let me know and I'll delete it!
There is an unofficial Goodreads discord. It's run by adults and it's a nice little oasis. We try to keep a pretty chill vibe, so trolls and people who are repeatedly disrespectful to other members are kicked pretty quickly. Full disclaimer though: I was made a mod not too long ago, so I'm a little biased. We're currently in the midst of a mini travel readathon and several of our members are doing the Popsugar challenge.
Feel free to join us:

Kay wrote: "is there a discord for people who read YA"I don't know about any discord groups particularly geared to YA, but the unofficial Goodreads discord has a lot of YA fans. We don't condone genre shaming in our group. The link is above your comment (message 34) if you care to check it out.
I can't believe I now know what you all are talking about AND actually have an account! That last is only 2 days old but I already somehow created a duplicate 🤣🤣🤣I am finding it tricky to manage profile and figure out use. Partly because the terminology is different from other social media- like what is a channel? Why do I have to pick a pronoun? How do I delete the duplicate profile? No, I don't want to invite friends!
No need to answer, just venting. I am figuring it out and my book club chair is helping us all. I am way older than the target age for it and way grumpier. I am also not a gamer.
Anyway, the whole reason I set up an account is that my IRL book club, which is still running virtually and may stay that way permanently, is giving it a try for our monthly virtual meetings etc. We have a FB page and been using FB Room to meet (it is also a GR Group where we maintain our library).
Feminerdy Book Club is all adults. It was set up on Discord only a couple weeks ago. It is small - only about 7 participate regularly. Total group on FB counts maybe 23 members, most inactive.
It is dedicated to reading fantasy and scifi from a strong feminist and gender identity perspective, and the monthly discussions are lively. Most members seem to be in their 30s, with 2 of us much older. I bring a strong literary perspective while everyone else are serious SciFi and Fantasy fans. It is a fabulous group.
Hey everyone, we have a Goodreads discord that has two main book clubs, readathons and other events! https://discord.gg/goodreadswe also have the corresponding book clubs in goodreads groups as well if you don't use discord. Anyone is welcome to join if you are 16+!

I'd like to nominate the Discord I'm in: Bibliophiles! There's soo many channels depending what you read, buddy-reads/watches, daily QOTD, bingo & games!!!https://discord.com/invite/ngCFpdhRqA

Exactly my thought! :) Glad I was wrong!

I've been thinking about starting one with a silent book club opportunity but I wanted to see what other people were doing. :D
