Hi, new member here. I need a bit of recommendations on books related to bipolar type 2 disorder...particularly how to live with it. I have been diagnosed fairly recently and apart from google and a couple of sites, I don't have much knowledge. Of course I am on medication and it's working...but sooner or later episodes will strike and I want to be ready.

Now I´m not competent enough to tell really when a book is about bipolar type 2 or some other type unless the book specifically says so, so I'm going to make some blanket suggestions.
First, take look at our bookshelf about bipolar here.
So here are some additional bipolar nonfiction suggestions:
Tristimania: A Diary of Manic Depression
An Unquiet Mind: A Memoir of Moods and Madness
Madness: A Bipolar Life
Racing Hummingbirds
Said the Manic to the Muse
I'm Telling the Truth, but I'm Lying: Essays
Mary's Monster: Love, Madness, and How Mary Shelley Created Frankenstein
Haldol and Hyacinths: A Bipolar Life
Touched with Fire: Manic-Depressive Illness and the Artistic Temperament
Running with Scissors
Manic: A Memoir
Crazy: A Father's Search Through America's Mental Health Madness
Marbles: Mania, Depression, Michelangelo, and Me
My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward
Unglued: A Bipolar Love Story

Please look into owning a copy of Bipolar, Not So Much: Understanding Your Mood Swings and Depression by Chris Aiken and James Phelps. I’m not finished it myself but my doctor recommended it to me and it’s helped explain so much. I encourage anyone interested to get a physical copy because they have little self assessment exercises that require putting pencil to paper.

If your're still here, I recommend you look up this book "Unf*cking My Bipolar Mind by Jeremy Gaines". I hope this helps.
Hi Karan! I see that you were diagnosed a while ago now. How have you been doing? Did you like any of these books?I have a memoir coming out on 1/1/26, and I have Bipolar 2.
I'm happy to share the chapter with you where I discovered it. It was pretty epic as it turned out, and getting the right diagnosis has been so valuable!
How has it been for you?
