Two sisters.

One brutal murder.

A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself…

And an intoxicating romance.

Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe – witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin…desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost-even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden.

Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked-princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems…

Who's in for this series starter?

How are you liking it so far Jo?

I'm really torn as I didn't particularly enjoy Stalking Jack the Ripper by the same author but this does sound interesting.

Jo Elliott | 1839 comments It's been okay, I've found it kind of slow moving and the romance has been kind of cringey to be honest!

That's what I was afraid of.

Oooh I am out on this one. Kerri Maniscalco and I just do not vibe 😬 Stalking Jack the Ripper had so much potential, but it was so disappointing. Not gonna do that to myself again. And it's a shame because the book sounds interesting! I'm looking forward to hearing others thoughts on this one though!

Totally fair enough Lili, some authors just don't work for some people!

Jo Elliott | 1839 comments So I finished Kingdom of the Wicked (Kingdom of the Wicked, #1) by Kerri Maniscalco last night, it was okay, kind of slow going for a lot of it and I'm not totally sold on the romance, but it did end in an exciting place so I will probably read Book 2 next year.

Did the romance get better at least Jo? Or did it stay cringey?

message 12: by Jo (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jo Elliott | 1839 comments It was still kind of cringey, I think it's just the way Kerri Maniscalco writes tbh? I don't really know what it is, just the way she writes romance feels extremely awkward to me.

Agreed if its anything like Stalking Jack the Ripper!

message 14: by Jo (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jo Elliott | 1839 comments I would actually have said the romance there was better, though I will admit, I'm never a fan of romances between humans/supernatural creatures, so that aspect of this book was probably never going to work for me!

I did struggle with the romance in Stalking Jack the Ripper, but by the end of the second book I was okay with it.... I even came to like Thomas! Lol. Going by what you said Jo, I think I made the right decision by not reading this one 😅 Especially if it was slow. My other issue with SJTR was the lack of thrills in a series about serial killers. What the heck!

Yeah I actually came to like Thomas and Audrey Rose too, before the fourth book anyway. I would agree Lili, from what you said about the SJTR series, I'm not sure you'd like this one.
