I just got it from the library so it'll be a while before I'm done. :)
The ending explained a lot about Detritus and the Krell. I have read the second book and you learn even more about the Krell and the universe this book is set in.
Finished it - it was actually really good and I loved the ending. I'm going to read the rest of the series.

I struggled with getting through the book so I would have been so much more invested had there been a way to introduce all that earlier. (And, BTW, am I the other one who keeps thinking of the Krill from the Orville whenever I see mention of the Krell? :D)
I did end up really liking M-Bot, though there was obviously that gap when M-Bot signed off.
