I am too! It'll be nice to dig deeper getting to know the woman.

Knowing what we know about Mason Callahan it's interesting getting his character solely as a Detective without the romance just working the cases. I sort of like that.. that the romantic interest is with the other characters in this case Victoria and Seth. The second time love was well done. I especially liked that Seth acknowledged that he loved his daughter but she was now an adult. A very mature outlook that made the reunion of Seth and Victoria look positive moving forward.
There was a few coincidences in the resolution of the murder mystery but overall all the pieces came together well. 3.5 stars.
Finished. And it's time to make this a Spoiler Zone.
I agree with you, Lisa. I'm enjoying getting more & more of Mason's background - learning what makes him tick - as a support character. His distress over the senseless killing of children is touching - his vow to bring them justice. His own little doubts & insecurities are there also. This series is worth it for me because of Mason.
The second chance love story was good. I really liked that Seth quickly stopped Victoria from rushing out after that phone scene. I thought Oh No...misunderstanding. But it was handled maturely & sensibly with his explanation of letting his daughter stand on her own two feet.
I rate this one 3 stars. It's good - not great. I plan to continue the series next month. Need to check the final title of this series as I've forgotten it.

His time comes in a later series, Susan. He's a support character in this series. I can't wait until we get into some of the following books.

It was a good one, but not that amazing for me. The ending for me was just too neatly done. Though, I'm quite interested with Chris' story next.

One rainy night in the woods outside of Portland, Dr. Victoria Peres is called to the site of a haunting crime scene. Six beautiful young girls—all in white dresses and arranged in a perfect circle—have been left for dead. Only one girl, fighting for her life at a nearby hospital, has survived the carnage. Things get stranger still when Victoria and the police discover that the disturbing arrangement of the bodies—as meticulous as it is mysterious—is straight from the pages of a decades-old cold case. Victoria is called on to do what she does best, read the bones of the dead for clues…while dealing with the surprise return of her first love, medical examiner Seth Rutledge. Only this time she must figure out how the two cases, fifty years apart, are connected.
