The terms equality and equity are often used interchangeably; however, they differ in important ways. Equality is typically defined as treating everyone the same and giving everyone access to the same opportunities. Meanwhile, equity refers to proportional representation (by race, class, gender, etc.

Annie (alyzzp) | 57 comments Depends. Equality as default works better than equity because different people will have different opinions on who needs more resources. We don't want oppression wars.

When equity can be done in an objective manner, it should be. As Em J. said, the stimulus check wouldn't be as effective if it were equal for everyone.

Equity is adding, "But some animals are more equal than others."

Papaphilly It will be equity during this. I am not sure it can be any other way and work.
