This one is on sale at audible in the 2 for 1 sale. So I got it as my free selection. The sale goes for a couple more days if you want to check it out. I started this one on audible and I think I need to just sit back and relax. I am at 10% and I can tell it is one of those books that just meanders along... slowly.
The description of the wartime hospital did seem very realistic though.
First chapter down . . . seems okay. I can tell how the narrative will take some getting used to. Also, all the quotes start with a - instead of actual quotes. I read a book before that did this and it got very annoying very quickly. So, we shall see!

Many think it's pretentious and abandon any book that does this. I was so surprised to hear that! It has irritated me in some books, but in other's I don't even find it distracting.
Interesting... I am on audio so I don't see that. I am trying to decide abt the narrator's voice. It is very soothing with a nice accent (southern), but it is easy for the mind to wander.

Charles Frazier narrates it and I just checked, but he only narrates his own books so I haven't heard him.
