I read this a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. I've been very tempted to get the audiobook as I'd love to hear the rap rather than reading it.
Hello! I finished it yesterday, I essentially read it in two days, which is a big deal for me, but I enjoyed it so much I couldn't put it down. I read it both in the physical book and audiobook formats, since I have trouble focusing on books otherwise, and I really enjoyed both. The narrator for the audiobook did an amazing job, so I'd recommend it.I'm tempted to say that I liked it more than THUG, but I read that one so long ago I'd have to re-read it to be sure?
Anyway, I gave it 5 stars, I really liked Bri as a main character, even though sometimes I was shaking my head when she wasn't listening to her mother (my favorite character, Jay was amazing, Angie Thomas really does write the best families) or her brother. Or her friends. Or anyone, really.
Also I really loved the rap portions, and I wish a real artist would record Bri's song.

On the Come Up is Angie Thomas’s homage to hip-hop, the art that sparked her passion for storytelling and continues to inspire her to this day. It is the story of fighting for your dreams, even as the odds are stacked against you; of the struggle to become who you are and not who everyone expects you to be; and of the desperate realities of poor and working-class black families.
