Let us know if you are reading or planning on reading The Doors of Eden by Adrian Tchaikovsky! No spoilers please!

Paul Perry (pezski) | 228 comments About halfway through the audiobook, really enjoying it!

Icy-Cobwebs-Crossing-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) | 23 comments I am so excited to read this! I knew of AT, but 2020 was my first reading (the incredible Children of Time). I'll start on Doors right away!

Rachel | 93 comments I got this recently but have several books I need to finish first (including 1200+ page Oathbringer)

Icy-Cobwebs-Crossing-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) | 23 comments I purchased this 28 October when it was a potential BOTM, knowing I would read it soon whether or not. I first "discovered " AT during Space Opera September, with Children of Time (which Today is a Kindle Daily Deal!). He immediately became a top favorite author. (Today I bought The Expert System's Brother and pre-ordered The Expert System’s Champion, so yeah, a top favorite:) .)

I read 20% last night, and as well as I can say without spoilering, there is incredible Synchronistic connection with Evolution, which I purchased on New Year's Eve, and commenced New Year's Day. Reading both is akin to turning a prism to view at a different angle.

Additionally, I ADORE The Doors of Eden!!

I was just thinking the exact same thing earlier today.

I started yesterday. Not exactly sure what I think so far. I'm interested too see how all of these threads interact.

MadProfessah (madprofesssah) | 174 comments I’m planning on reading it later in the month...

Thanks for this recommendation. I'm interesting to see this kind of connection. Adding it to my TBR.

Ditto what Gabi said!

Elizabeth Park (elpark) Big, fat juicy book! I'm about 3/4 of the way through, and it's been a good primer on evolutionary ecology and geologic/evolutionary history. Enjoying it a lot.

Donna Birdwell (donnadechenb) Coming late to the game, but this looks like exactly my kind of read! Downloading it now...

Rafael (laepo) | 30 comments I'm having a bit of trouble with this novel.

I'm loving it, it's a challenging read and it's premise is great. The little chapters with information about other earths are my favourite so far, but as english is not my first language I find difficult to understand some of the weird comparisons the author keeps making throughout the book. Also there are so many little references that get lost in me (I had to google who Mother Shipton was for exemple), not that it affects my appreciation for it, but I lose way too much time trying to make sense out of them! Anyway, i should finish it during this weekend. :)

MadProfessah (madprofesssah) | 174 comments I’m about 65% done. I really dislike the intervening short excerpts about the other earths. Happily they are short and I’ll confess to skipping 1 or 2 or 5 of them.

I appreciate Tchaikovsky‘s inclusion of diverse characters. Lesbians Mal and Lee and trans Kay. My favorite character is probably Melanie (? The one who is Julian’s friend). Lucas is more than a little obnoxious.

Oh and I love the mangled English of the rat/weasel translator!!

Overall I am not loving this as much as his “Children of ...” books.

The excerpts will make more sense in a bit :)

Rachel | 93 comments I’m about 59 pages in. Enjoying it- was quite gripped by the first birdmen interaction.
I also enjoy the scientific chapter interludes- however I also own quite a bit of Gould and Wilson which are quite similar essays about our own world.

MadProfessah (madprofesssah) | 174 comments Agree that the later interludes make more sense or are more relevant ...

Icy-Cobwebs-Crossing-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) | 23 comments Jumping back in and catching up! Sidetracked by numerous review requests.

Rachel | 93 comments I’m liking how the interludes match up with the geological eras in the front of the book

Jennifer | 5 comments Shel wrote: "The excerpts will make more sense in a bit :)"

I was tempted to skim over the excerpts, too, so I'm glad you said this. It did make sense and make me go Ohhh!

MadProfessah (madprofesssah) | 174 comments I still skipped about half of the interludes even when I could tell that they were connected to the other worlds that the characters were experiencing.
