Star Wars Acronyms

This is a great post, thank you!An acronym I saw used several times when I read Tarkin last month was CIS, which stood for Confederacy of Independent Systems. The book also made heavy us of ISB for Imperial Security Bureau and COMPNOR for the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order, which incidentally replaced COMPOR (Commission for the Protection of the Republic) after Palpatine took power.
Not sure if those are worth recognizing, but I thought I'd throw them out there. I am sure there are more.
We just had a long discussion with Akindle about use of acronyms in group posts. I think that widely spread and recognized acronyms like SW, acronyms of Star Wars movies, SW vehicles etc. are fine. But more specific ones should be used sparcely (or explained when first used). Especially when the group is full of SW Legends newbies or people who haven't read any SW books in a long while.
What do you think, Don?
Anyway as a topic for discussion acronyms are fun. And I also remember coming across CIS in a SW book, can't remember which one though.

Zuzana wrote: "I think that widely spread and recognized acronyms like SW, acronyms of Star Wars movies, SW vehicles etc. are fine... With this thread we can tackle any acronym questions that come along. Love it!
I will probably list acronyms I come across in my SW reads. Just for fun.
