Our book for April is Jenny Elder Moke's debut novel, Hood.

As you may have guessed from the title and cover combination, Hood is a retelling of Robin Hood, following his teenage daughter, Isabelle. As Isabelle follows in her father's footsteps and gets in trouble with the law, opening to a story that is full of colorful characters.

How do you feel about retellings? What about Hood's original source, "Robin Hood"? What are you expecting from this book?

Christine | 142 comments I am in another book club that exclusively reads retellings, which has increased my interest in reading retellings. Generally, I prefer fairy tale retellings to folklore or mythology retellings, though. I do not like Robin Hood. The fighting/violence does not appeal to me. The premise of Hood intrigues me more than Robin Hood does. Also, one of my friends read it and said she liked all the history. I am hoping that this book focuses more on historical fiction than action/adventure.

Kristen | 166 comments I need to get better at reading these books on time! I'm a little concerned about this book; I like retellings, but have never really been a big fan of Robin Hood. (However, keep in mind that pretty much everything I know about RH is Disney's version, so....)
