I finally got the trilogy from my local library! Yay! I I’m to the point where (view spoiler) In book 1. It, so far is as good as to better than Dark Force Rising/Heir to the Empire/The Last Command trilogy in Legends. I’m sorry if I misordered them. I have read Thrawn and Eli fanfics in this era with a line from the fanfic that I remembered in the book so far. It was a prank war fanfic between Eli and Thrawn on Ao3.

Thrawn really is smart in (view spoiler) Eli Vanto’s (view spoiler)? Now, they just need to take Thrawn to (view spoiler) What could go wrong?

It is kinda interesting That Zahn has the last name of a person in the book be Barris. A famous Jedi from CW and Medstar... I think you know who I mean. Death Star Spoilers(view spoiler) Could there be a connection? Spoiler:(view spoiler) Or is the name or variants just common in the galaxy far, far, away?

Epic line:(view spoiler)
How does he know that Anakin=Vader(given how long those movies have been out, I see no reason to use spoiler tags)? I know Anakin spoke highly of Palpatine on their joint mission in a later book(dual timeline(CW Anakin+Thrawn on mission/Imperial era Vader+Thrawn)). I also know that Thrawn is not to be underestimated. Could he have put the parts together? But if so, when?

In this case I think it is just a coincidence, Akindle. Mosh Barris has one 's' in his last name while the former Jedi padawan was Barriss Offee with two in her first name. I do not think there is any other connection. Though, Mosh Barris as a character came straight from the "Mist Encounter" short story to be canonized in Thrawn.

Akindle wrote: "How does he know that Anakin=Vader?"

I am not sure Thrawn knows Vader was or is Anakin Skywalker, who he met at The Citadel. I cannot make a certainly of this, but neither can I disprove it. Thrawn is highly intelligent and can put things together well. But, I am not certain he knows and I can't point to anything in this book that provides evidence he knows.

Seems like you are enjoying the book!

Rebecca | 962 comments Just keep reading. Book 2 will answer many of your questions. Glad to see others enjoying Zahn's new books! I hope they include him in the process for bringing Thrawn into live action and let him write some of the tie-in content for the shows.

I know Barriss had 2 s’s and the officer had 1.

I think he knows by the end of the trilogy that Anakin=Vader, if I remember right.

Mist Encounter is extremely similar to the first part of Thrawn. He just modded it a bit, then added Eli Vanto.

Thrawn and Anakin met in a mission In the CW in Thrawn: Alliances or Thrawn: Treason(whichever has the dual timeline)
Thrawn may have been out of the loop on the empire, but remembered Anakin.

When is live action Thrawn?

Rebecca | 962 comments Considering his name drop in Mandalorian season 2, that the Ahsoka show will cover looking for both he and Ezra Bridger, and that Mandalorian Season 3, The Book of Boba Fett, at least season 1 of Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic are all culminating in an MCU level crossover event featuring the return of a Star Wars Rebels villain, I think it is safe to deduct that a live action Thrawn is coming.

Where were the (view spoiler) headed for? Maybe DS-1 or DS-2(depending on when Thrawn is set)(Spoilers for Death Star by Michael Reaves(view spoiler))

Aaron | 2 comments I’m listening to the audiobook and I’m about 50% complete and Marc Thompson is great! I watched Rebels met Thrawn there, this is my first book introduction to him.

Try the Legends Thrawn trilogy of Dark Force Rising, Heir to the Empire, The Last Command. They are out of order, but you might like these if you like Thrawn.

Rebecca | 962 comments The first Thrawn novel for Disney stuff is set before season 3 of Rebels. Thrawn Alliences is soon after season 3. Thrawn Treason is during season 4. Wookies were probably headed for the first Death Star.

That makes sense, as DS-2 wouldn't have been started for a while.
