Hi everyone and Happy New Year! I finally received the book and will read it in French.Look foward to your reviews.
I have never read anything like that. Its mesmerising, beautifully written its deep, sharp, strong and sad...
I just finished the first half of the book and I was not expecting to get so emotional. Usually I get emotional when the book focuses on characters, in this book everything is softly enlighten without going to deeply into things and still it is so impactful!!
I just put this book on my Nook based on the wonderful recommendations here! I have several library books to finish this month so I may not get to it very soon, but I will definitely be reading it.
What a powerful prologue. It really sets the stage for the thought provoking themes of this story. This line ‚‘‘They took our Land from us, they overturned the old order, our order, and ever since, white faces stand proud in our world in tatters“.....heartbreaking. Beautiful and captivating writing that easily pulls you in. Also, I like the use of the Ma‘ohi terms with glossary.
