Watching Launch of the High Republic LiveStream I noticed that for the purposes of new canon they divided SW history into different eras than in Legends.

It probably is old news. I just found it interesting.

And an untitled Claudia Gray book that she can’t say anything about. High Republic era. 2021 or 2022.

Thrawn ascendancy book 2 is Greater Good, I think.

Great job, Don. If you're willing then by all means take charge of this thread. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, but you can't file it unless you know when it takes place, can you? So until Disney or Claudia Gray hersef let us know, we'll be in the dark.

I think that she didn't clarify what era the book would belong to. It might not even be a High Republic book. What if it's the sequel that so many fans want - sequel to Lost Stars?

It was revealed at a HR event, so I'm thinking that it is HR, not sequel to Lost Stars.

You as well might be right, Akindle. We'll see.

Don Brown (donkbrown) | 139 comments I've updated the content list and timeline and adjusted the language in the post's preamble. I'll update the list as news and information comes out to include a date so we know how timely our content listing is. I'll check sources and make updates at least once a week at a minimum, but likely more often as time and available information allows.

Please message me or leave a post in the thread if you see needed adjustments, if I missed something, or if I goofed something up. Moderators, of course, can make all the editing changes they feel necessary.

As time allows, I'll get all of the material liked to its related Good Reads page or source.

This is the way.

Thanks, Don. It looks perfect.

And you don't have to update as often. Please, don't forget to have fun! I don't want this to become a chore to you.

Yep, this Junior Novel releases from Disney-Lucasfilm Press on June 29, 2021 It is a Junior Novel for ages 8 to 12. Want me to add it to the timeline above after Star Wars The High Republic: Out of the Shadows ? I was not sure since it's a book for third to seventh grade reading. It might fit better listed HERE. I'll do whatever you guys want.

Kim | 45 comments Thanks for keeping this list updated, Don! So many exciting new books to look forward to!

If anyone is into signed copies, Books A Million currently has Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, and The Rising Storm (Cavan Scott) as pre-orders. They aren't crazy expensive like some of these exclusive editions have been, so that's nice! Some of the other pre-orders are on sale. My day took an expensive turn!

Goldsboro Books has the Thrawn one for any one in the U.K.

So the first batch of the High Republic books is set 200 years before The Phantom Menace. Interesting.
I'd prefer if they went a bit further into the past, but I'll take it. ;)

Rebecca | 962 comments I don't get why the canon timeline feels so conflated.

My guess is they don't know what to do with the Old Republic era. Because Dave Filoni's projects mention many characters and events from the old EU and that makes it a nightmare to navigate for authors who'd write in that era.

Rebecca | 962 comments That makes sense.

As far as the era after ep 6 goes, that's where most of the other new projects (movies, TV shows, PC games) take place. The authors might be hesitant to get too much ahead because those projects could de-canonize anything written in the books unless they deal specifically with characters that are done in the movies (and preferably dead or unlikely to appear in other media again), e.g. Phasma, or Leia (Bloodline).

So the safest way is to either play in the playpen of Ep I (or closely before) to Ep VI period, or the brand new era that collides neither with the Old Republic nor the movie universe - that's why they came up with the High Republic.

That's the way I see it. But that's just my opinion.
