hey everyone!! how are you guys doing with school because of covid and shutdowns? my grades are still pretty good but its getting harder to find motivation :/

And I feel you Penelope, schools been really overwhelming for a good while now, with corona I find it hard to stay focused on school work even smh
My grades aren’t that great but I’ve garnered up some energy to work on them for the remainder of this school year :}

With loosing motivation maybe try to map out what you’re working for?
And it doesn’t have to be something big either, for me it’s because I want my monthly allowance LOL
Having a clearer mind of why you bother might help with the smaller daily tasks, it helped me :)

thats a great idea!! im also thinking about spicing my room up a bit so that im more excited to work in it.

yesssss school is S T R E S S F U L rn I missed an assignment last week so oops ig. I've been procrastinating my HW and binging movie and books instead but winter break has been nice so hopefully I'm rejuvenated for when school starts up again. it's mainly physics that is wearing me down (ー_ー゛)

penelope I love that idea what are you going to do with your room (btw I might steal ur ideas bc I wanna redo my room too)

oh my goodness don’t even get me started on physics. i took it last year and im taking chemistry this year so i feel your pain:(

my walls are already painted gray and most of my furniture is black/white so im just gonna add some succulents around my room and make a small section of my wall dedicated to photos of my friends and i and my favorite quotes from books!!

I’m also going to touch up my room, going to buy some sort of bookshelf for my books and decorations, my room is still so empty 😅
But I’ve got to come around to get one first

I just got a bookshelf! but now I just need more books to fill it up... I definitely want more plants in my room tho I'm going for a sort of art hoe vibe even tho I don't do art but I do appreciate

ughhh i feel all of you so much! i am so not motivated to do anything for school :( my greats are doing okay, yeah i like where i am with them but theres just some classes i really hate like Physics (i like how everyone here hate physics hhahaha)
and omg i´ve been redoing my room for some time now and i also want a new bed but i cant go looking for it because og corona but yeah.
I think im dying my hair little darker on friday (on my own...help) but till then i have nothing to do (except reading of course)

I was really lucky about how we handled COVID here so I only had to do online schooling for 5 weeks (half a term and before we even had any assessments). I for the most part actually kinda preferred it to in person schooling ahaha but oh well (even if I did put off one of my assignments for a month and then had to spend 6 straight hours doing it and submitting it 10 minutes before the deadline just for them to not even count it towards my grade lol). I'm on my long school holidays rn and until late January, so the transition holidays between grades. I'm moving from grade 9 to grade 10 and lowkey not vibing with it. I don't particularly want to be a senior pfft. I also don't particularly want to go back to school but it is what it is ig lmao. I'd love to redecorate my room but there just isn't enough space to move the furniture around to do so unfortunately, so I just stick to rearranging my bookshelves and cleaning my desk.

I’m also totally not motivate to do anything for school and now we got the information that school is going to start again in one week (even though that we have the most cases in my region) and I have so much left to do for school. I totally can relate to you all

i live in the us so we’ve pretty much been in lockdown this whole time

One of my other friends in the US tested positive for covid today but she says she thinks she'll be fine so sending her good vibes haha. On our end this will hopefully only last 3 days so they can do contact tracing but she went to so many places with so many people (2 of the most used train stations in the city, 2 of the largest supermarkets in the city centre) so I get the feeling it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. But it's happened in all 3 states that have the most cases. It blew up in NSW for a month before it was under control, then in VIC for another 2 months, then in NSW again so ig it was our turn

People are still panic buying toilet paper and for what we established at the start of last year that it's stupid lmao

omg the start of covid was such a fever dream

Gosh I feel so deprived of reading that I’m resorting to rereading twilight 😬
I love it so much but I never find myself able to finish the first book because I dislike the story so much-
But since I don’t have any books that I haven’t read at home sooooo I’m going to make an attempt on finishing it.

I’m getting all of my Christmas books this week tho and I can’t contain myself aaaa

My parents and I had COVID and I can tell you all it wasn’t a fun time. My Mom has still breathing problems and we can’t really smell anything (we had COVID in November). So please be save and wear your masks, it’s not just a flu!

My lockdown ended 9 minutes ago with restrictions remaining so im gonna go open mouth kiss a cashier lmao skshkaha

But I hope ur mother's breathing proglems improve and that ur smell comes back! That sounds awful. I'm glad you're both relatively OK though

Yeah sorry we're both real new moderators and still kind of workshopping how we're gonna run it aha. Originally for this month (or ig it would end up being February) we were gonna just submit 4 books from a list bc we were trying to do it on shortish notice but it would make more sense to poll it openly. does anyone know if you should shadow and bone before reading six of crows? because i have been trying to finish siege and storm for 2 months now and i don’t think that i can do it

i read six of crows without reading any of that series and had no problems. i think the only thing that relates them is that they take place in the same world

The only thing about skipping s&b is that the learning curve for SoC is quite steep bc the politics, countries, etc is established in s&b. I read SoC without reading s&b (only started it like today) and was fine, but the first 50ish pages can be a little confusing without having read it. But the events in Soc are not carried on from s&b, the only thing is there are slight spoilers for s&b in CK but it's honestly not really a problem (just a reference to Alina). Other than that feel free to skip s&b bc as far as everyone says SOC is much better

yeah i just finished six of crows without reading shadow and bone. its a bit confusing at first but as you get into it it’s really not that bad

Ugh Rachel I love that series! Ignite me is SPICY.. I haven't read the other book series yet bc I'm scared they will disappoint me but the first three were 10/10
