Rich Gant | 9 comments I'm pretty sure there were six books two trilogies I read them around 2006 there was a race of humans a race of bird people and the bird people could use Magic that was in the form of song or singing I remember one of the main characters should have been one of the bird people what was living with the humans and her wings were torn out by her father in the second trilogy there were great villains that represented pestilence 5 min gluttony and so forth

Rich Gant | 9 comments Sorry 5 min should have been famine

Valerie (veegood) | 248 comments The girl having her wings torn out by her father is very close to a plot point in the Axis trilogy by Sarah Douglass. The first three books are Battleaxe, Enchanter and Starman. There is another trilogy that follows, the Wayfarer Redemption.

I know there's singing magic in them, can't remember much about the second trilogy, except that it ended in the land sinking into the sea.

Rich Gant | 9 comments Wayfarer Redemption is the name of two trilogies that were released as a single six-book series in the U.S. by fantasy author Sara Douglass, and subdivided into two trilogies: the Axis trilogy, and the Wayfarer Redemption trilogy. This sequence is followed by the Darkglass Mountain trilogy.

The series is set in a fictitious land containing the lands of Tencendor, also known as Achar, Coroleas, Escator and Isembaard. The background of the series is quite extensive, and the events featured in the novels stem from a series of events that began thousands of years before the beginning of the first book.
