This is open for spoilers regarding Master & Apprentice

Daniel Huff | 3 comments About halfway done with this as of now. I like this struggle between Obi-wan and Qui-Gon as the book continues. When you saw these two in Phantom Menace, you wouldn’t have suspected any kind of damaged relationship. In my opinion, it built for a better one later on down the road for them.

Haley White (haleymhughes) I’ve just finished Master & Apprentice and wow! I really enjoyed the dynamic between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon and their opinions of the prophecies. I’d never considered that the Chosen One bringing balance to the force meant that they would bring the power of the light and dark side to being equal. So, I’d assumed that Anakin being the Chosen One was a misinterpretation of that prophecy (another theory: Luke or Rey is the Chosen One).

“Let’s say I do,” Rael answered. “Let’s say I believe that someday there’s going to be perfect balance in the Force, thanks to some kinda ‘Chosen One.’ Did you ever really think about what that would mean, Qui-Gon? It would mean the darkness would be just as strong as the light. So it doesn’t matter what we do, because in the end, hey, it’s a tie! It doesn’t matter which side we choose.”

I love Qui-Gon's response to Rael right after that--I think it's my favorite quote in the book.
“It matters which side we choose. Even if there will never be more light than darkness. Even if there can be no more joy in the galaxy than there is pain. For every action we undertake, for every word we speak, for every life we touch—it matters. I don’t turn toward the light because it means someday I’ll ‘win’ some sort of cosmic game. I turn toward it because it is the light.”

while I enjoyed this book, I couldn't belive the tension between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. I felt it was forced. no pun intended. Being able to see the growth of Qui-Gon from Jedi lost to now was really cool. Also, it made me love Obi-Wan even more.

Stephanie (thetasteph) This was a good book to see the background of Obi and Qui. I could see how they would have opposing views. I like how Obi had to go through of his disappointment/fear of his master leaving him. It's good to see that he wasn't always this calm, wise old man.

I also like the side characters and the antagonists of this book.
