This thread is to mark your completion of the July challenge to fulfill prompt #22 A book set mostly or entirely outdoors. It will be summer in the norther hemisphere and winter in the southern hemisphere, so there should be many options across climate conditions!

Please include the following:

Author:
Would you recommend this book?

Heather L (wordtrix) | 780 comments One of the first prompts I checked off this year!

TITLE: Where the Red Fern Grows
AUTHOR: Wilson Rawls
RECOMMEND? Yes! Though I also recommend you have tissue handy.

Erica | 1295 comments Title: Remote Control
Author: Nnedi Okorafor
Recommend? If you're a fan of Okorafor's sure. It was a little confusing.

Milena (milenas) | 1205 comments This is also the first prompt I checked off this year.

Title: This Tender Land
Author: William Kent Krueger
Would you recommend this book? Yes, it was very good. A great start to the year.

Lilith (lilithp) | 1120 comments Title: World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments

Author: Aimee Nezhukumatathil

Would you recommend this book? Yes, all of the essays (basically, her memoirs) actually take place outside . Nothing between her and the natural flora and fauna she writes about. Each of these is a gorgeous gem. Could you expect anything less from an award-winning poet?
Aimee Nezhukumatathil is my new favorite environmental writer, right after Rachel Carson .My favorite memoir/essay is about her love of the corpse flower, and how this plant led her to the perfect partner for her - the man who is now her husband!

Katy M | 979 comments Title: Keep Australia On Your Left: A True Story of an Attempt to Circumnavigate Australia by Kayak
Author: Eric Stiller
Would you recommend this book? Absolutely not. The author is very whiny throughout the whole book and it's just a frustrating experience for him and the reader.

message 7: by Britany (new)

Britany | 1778 comments Title: The Survivors
Author: Jane Harper
Would you recommend this book? Yes, it was my second favorite of hers after The Dry. I loved the atmospheric quality to her writing and the ending got me.

The Survivors by Jane Harper

Harmke | 435 comments Title: Where the Crawdads Sing
Author: Delia Owens
Would you recommend this book? Absolutely! I loved it: the scenery, the independance of Kya, it was hard to put the book away.

message 9: by Heather (new)

Heather (heatherbowman) | 916 comments Title: Watership Down
Author: Richard Adams
Would you recommend this book? Yes. It wasn't my favorite children's classic, but I enjoyed it.

message 10: by Jacqie (new)

Jacqie Title: The Drowned Country
Author: Emily Tesh
Recommend: I would, but recommend you read the first book in this series, Silver in the Woods, first. Both of these books play with English fairy legend tropes, which I happen to really like.

Would you recommend this book? Yes. It was a fun mystery.
