oh it’s ok! i’ll just comment what I said earlier.
I was talking about how I cannot power through Chapter 11 because I literally am getting second hand embarrassment LOL. I feel so bad for Jude when Valerian forces the Faerie fruit into her mouth. Now she has lost all control and theyre gathering around her like she’s a new toy. This is not the Jude we all know and it makes me feel bad for her :( But yeah i can’t read through this. It is so hard HAHAHA

oh my gosh he does??? OK I WILL POWER THROUGH. I was debating if i should just skip this entire chapter because i cannot it’s so hard
oh my god!!! are you talking about pricking her finger so she can taste her blood so she can get rid of the Faerie fruit in her system? WHEN I READ THAT PART I WAS SO HAPPY I LITERALLY SCREAMED!!!! IT WAS SUCH A SMALL GESTURE BUT IT MADE ME HAPPY!!!
Also, Locke!?!? HOW SWEET. Jude has a lil crush and Locke is reciprocating it!! and I love how fatherly Madoc becomes in chapter 11!! this chapter was phew.

so i just finished reading chapter 15 and i am in pieces!! I love how Locke is so sweet to Jude! I also feel bad for Cardan and how his brother treats him :( I wonder why Cardan wrote Jude’s name multiple times. Also, Jude is becoming so badass. She really doesn’t need anyone. I love how she is eating a little of the things that harm her so she can gain control and power. I literally adore her so much. I also wonder who is going to wed Taryn? Why do I have such a bad feeling it’s Locke?
just finished 15! omgggg okay when Jude found the paper where Cardan wrote her name a lot:
me (with pretty much NO EVIDENCE): omfggg he's in love
me: enemies to lovers, am i right?
me: go on, Cardan, just freaking kiss her already, you *clearly* love her xD
Jude: he hates me so much and i hate him and i never knew *just how much* he hated me
so that's where i'm at XDDD
back to chapter eleven... ughh that was awfully bad second hand embarrassment and i felt so bad for how they were taking advantage of Jude and making her act like someone she would despise. that scene solidified my already deep hatred for Valerian.
i'm not sure what to think about Locke. he seems very sweet, but doesn't put a stop to things until they start getting out of hand. he has had many chances to make Jude's life better, at least a little, and it's taken him a long time to act. it's so cute when they're together though, even though i'm shipping Jude pretty hard with the person she hates... oops. i also had the feeling Taryn would wed Locke... uh-oh.
this is pretty long now, but there are a few more things i want to say. first, that passage where Jude was looking at the beautiful piece of fabric and thinking about all of the bad things that happen to princesses, the kind of people who wear that fabric. and right while she was thinking that is when Taryn asks for that fabric... it feels ominous. Taryn's interesting. i wish she would stand up for herself more instead of trying to gain everyone's approval.
second, JUDE IS AMAZING!!! i love her sm and she is such a strong character.
third, it kind of made me sick to think about how the Faeries treat humans in the palace and the other building when Jude had to sneak in. i hate that they are using humans like that and being so cruel.

ahh i forgot to say how much i loved/hated Cardan in chapter eleven. when he pricked Jude's finger i was legit squealing inside. what does everyone think so far about Cardan? and about him and Jude?

And since you mentioned the scene with the girls looking at fabric, it irritated me so much when Taryn asked for the fabric that Jude was holding onto. It's like she doesn't care about Jude or what Jude wants, whereas Jude is always putting Taryn's wellbeing above her own.
As far as Cardan goes, I think now that we've learned about how his brother treats him it kind of paints the picture that he's grown up without love, or at least healthy love since his brother does claim to "love" him. This does make me view him differently because it does explain his behaviour. As far as Jude I think she's so badass, and despite being a human she's proved to be really brave.
i think that being human helps to make her even more brave, because she already stands out and will never truly belong in Faerie, so she is okay taking more risks and standing up for herself. Taryn wants to fit in so badly that she acts the opposite. i wonder if she'll be able to redeem herself throughout the book.
you both make valid points, and julia I love how you pointed out the part where Taryn and Jude both want the same fabric but it ultimately goes to Taryn. I totally forgot about that! I think that scene does show Taryn’s character well. Her and Jude are complete opposites! I think in the part where both of their parents die and Jude is violently hitting Madoc while Taryn is crying and checking on her mom foreshadows the type of people they will be in the future and it did. I absolutely love the contrast.
Also, I know this is an enemies too lovers book so I’m excited! I was squealing about Cardan writing her name over and over again. I don’t think Jude realizes anything of it though.

btw I wanted to ask if you guys felt weird when Jude was hiding behind the chair. I thought they are faeries and have extra senses but they didn't sense her AT ALL
I thought it was weird how they didn’t sense her at all. They were probably caught up in their own theatrics to notice anyone in the room with them.

I like such lines so much!!
i was expecting them to catch Jude the whole time i was reading that scene. Caradan was probably too scared/angry to think about anything else, but i feel like Balekin could have noticed.
yeah, guess so
Bee, i loved the line you posted earlier, about what Taryn says regarding storybooks. it's so true, even if we don't always realize it, and also sets up the scene for bad things to happen

I have a question since i’m new to this type of universe. Are all faerie worlds the same? Like do they have the same type of look? Also guys, I am almost done with chapter 23 and before i even finished it, I bought the wicked king (the second book). I don’t think I can wait until friday to read the second book.

no girl :) not all are same. but in my experience, the faeries in Cassandra Clare books are just like this. the faeries in SJM books are very different and I personally don't like those.
they look same as in, they have pointy ears. they're beautiful like Elves ...
you don't have to wait at all. I've already read it so even if you start I'll be there to join you for book talk :)
i don't think they are... but this is my introduction to YA faerie worlds as well.
awesome!!! i'm so excited to finish the book :)

IK!!!!! I thought it was even more embarrassing when she was standing in her undergarments only. I also thought it was sad when she asked them if she was as pretty as them, but they told her no.
I HATED THAT PART!! it was so hard to read and yes! especially when she was stripped! omg and when she was publicly humiliated i felt so bad.
