I nominate Dinosaurs: How they lived and evolved. It's the best natural history of dinos for adults. I reviewed the 1st edition ( https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... ). Also, this group needs more dino love.
We only have three nominations. I'm going to extend the nomination period to the end of January 22. Just a couple of extra days. I know everyone is distracted and busy right now, but I'm sure we can come up with more suggestions than this.
I'll put forward a few from my TBR:1) The River of Consciousness by Oliver Sacks
2) The Fossil Hunter: Dinosaurs, Evolution, and the Woman Whose Discoveries Changed the World by Shelley Emling
3) The Body: A Guide for Occupants by Bill Bryson
4) Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain
Hi, I will nominate the following books:House on Fire: The Fight to Eradicate Smallpox by William H. Foege
The Evolution of Beauty: How Darwin's Forgotten Theory of Mate Choice Shapes the Animal World—And Us by Richard O. Prum
What It's Like to Be a Dog: And Other Adventures in Animal Neuroscience by Gregory Berns
Origins: How Earth's History Shaped Human History by Lewis Dartnell

Origins is an excellent book, but we read it in June, 2020. You can read our discussion here:

Once again, I'd like to suggest that the link to the page that lists all that we have read is included in the announcement of the nominations. It would make these kind of replies unnecessary. Thank you.
Jane
Hello :) I would like to nominate these books:Superior: The Return of Race Science
Inventing Ourselves: The Secret Life of the Teenage Brain
Infinite Powers: How Calculus Reveals the Secrets of the Universe
One is about rasism in science - it might be super interesting to discuss, the infinite powers is more nerdy but fun to read:)
Let me suggest also this link for the books we have read, in alphabetical order:

Susan wrote: "2) The Fossil Hunter: Dinosaurs, Evolution, and the Woman Whose Discoveries Changed the World by Shelley Emling"That title is very misleading. Mary Anning didn't discover any dinos. Also, contra the book's description, ichthyosaurs aren't dinos.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAICT, only 1 dino book is listed in that link (Brusatte 2018). All the more reason to vote Dinosaurs: How They Lived and Evolved 2016 ;) This group needs more dino love.
Nominations are closed. Please vote for your preference at the following poll:

The poll will close at the end of January 28.

Please use the "add book/author" link just above the comment box to insert a link to the Goodreads book page for the book you are nominating, so other members can more easily assess it. Apparently this only works on the desktop version of the site; if you use the app, the link is not available yet, so just be sure to put the full title and author.
To check whether a book has been previously read or already selected to be read, check the following list: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...
You may nominate a book which has been suggested previously and did not win. You may nominate more than one book, but we might not include all of your nominations in the voting.
Please do not nominate a book which is unlikely to be available to all members, such as one which was just published within the last three months or which is only available on Kindle in the U.S.
Nominations will close on January 20 or when we have about 10 good nominations, whichever occurs first
