Goodreads Ireland discussion

Would anyone be interested to have a virtual book club? We could chat, vent or rant about book, maybe read some together.

I think it would do a lot of good when we can’t have these social things in real life.
I’m also willing to make it and mod it a bit so everyone is safe, comfortable and has a good time.

I would be interested...did you manage to get a book club up and running?

I would be interested in joining in the hope of reducing the stack of books that has piled up over the past year or so. I thought during the lockdowns etc. I’d been overjoyed to have all that reading time but the opposite seems to have happened. New books were bought every week and there is about 100 or more stacked about the place WTBR. Curious about the name of this group. Is it focused on any particular genre, non fiction etc.

I went ahead and created a channel in Telegram, which seems to make most sense, as it is a bit more like a chat forum than just a group chat.

Do keep in mind that your number will be visible just like in WhatsApp or Telegram normally.

I’m a bit confused now, is Telegram or Signal a specific app that I need to use? I’ve not heard of them and I mostly use an IPad with Kindle for ebooks.

It is an app, same as any chat app.

We can’t really chat on Kindle about the book we read together or just books we are reading individually.

You can put the app on your iPad tho!

Does anyone here use Signal rather than Telegram. I’d never heard of either but looked them up on Hypergraphia’s advice. Signal seems to be a “safer” app than Telegram. More advice from anyone would be appreciated.

How do I find you on Telegram

Everyone I know tends to use Whatsapp.
The problem with Whatsapp is that everyone can see your phone number. :/
I will try and pop into Telegram over the weekend, and say "Hi"
